they just announced today that I can give 1 person my GM employee dicount, the catch is you have to buy a new vehicle before july 31st (take possesion by business day end)  So if any of you are looking for a new vehicle and have the money NOW to buy let me know and I will get you a certificate.  But don't waste it.  If you will really buy one I will get it for you, if you think that you won't by the 31st then let someone else get it.  let me know!

I want a 4 door 1/2 ton pick up and have the money, I just don't know if I have the time to car shop and close a deal this week. We are leaving town this Sunday for vacation and I have a lot to do this week. Are they now restricting you to one employee deal? I thought it was like 6 per year. Maybe you have already used up 5 of your 6. They are advertising hard on TV and radio (I suppose also in print ads... don't take the paper) about 0% for 72 months, factory incentive $$ and employee pricing. I assume that your awesome deal is even better than that. PM me if you want. We've talked about this before and you know I am interested. Too bad they are only going to give me $1.95 for my '02 crew cab as a trade in. Tongue

This is the discount that I get on new cars, not the supplier one that I get 6 of. (Bryants mom got the supplier discount and still save 3400) I will still have all 6 of those, but this is the deal.  Brian this would be perfect for you!! You have until thursday, plus you could find that truck on just about any dealer lot.  Sales are slow on full size trucks and utlities.  Just let me know.

I am very interested. I will seriuosly try to start shopping today. I suppose it doesn't really matter what dealer I go to since, as you said, they are all probably covered up with crew cab, V8, 1500 series pickups. I remember the sales trick you mentioned of not saying anything about the discount until the last minute. I'll PM you my phone numbers. I know you had them but that doesn't mean you still do. Thanks ahead of time for all the help... you da man! waytogo

Read the link to the GM discount. Do I contact you when I find the deal I want on a truck? I assume you need that info before you get the discount number right?

Yes,  Brian you find what you want and call me (will PM it to you)  and I will get you the certificate number and email you.  I will need:  full name, last 4 of SSN, DOB, and zip code.  It will only take me about 10 minutes at the most to get you what you need.

GM is doing this to sell a couple more cars/trucks.

Brian has pretty much claimed the 1 I have, but it is not for sure.
I talked to him on the phone and he will know more soon, soon enough if he doesn't need or want it, someone else can use it.  So Mcraut/ideapimp keep looking and watch the thread!

i was browsing some of the prices...seems like you would want to be shooting for a more higher end vehicle to make the discount worth it...i would kind of be looking to the lower end, though.  sounds like brian will get good use out of it, though..it's all good.  hell that's what craigslist is for.

I googled "GM hybrid cards with good gas mileage that are attractive and safe" and the interwebs came back with this:  "Go #$% yourself, hippie"

Oh, well, it wasn't unexpected...

i wanna use it.......NOT!! yes brian the higher end you go the bigger the discount. for instance a $15,000 focus i only get 2000 off plus any factory incentives. but a fully loaded $40,000 f150 i pay $22000 for. my dad bought a $33000 f150 for $18000 about 2 months ago. my little brother saved about 12000 on his tundra and my mom paid 21k for her FULLY (sunroof, leather, woodgrain dash and trim, headrest dvd and upgraded exterior pkge) loaded edge. just remember on employee discounts and cars the more bells and whistles the bigger the discount. thats why when my wife choose a focus i was p'd off. we have seven different makes i get a discount on and she picks a damn focus. "it's cute" she says. whatever i just shut up and signed. either way shop wisely young man this is a great oppurtunity to save a ton of money......on a decent product.  laughingdp

Young man? Who you talking to? laughingdp As Alan knows all too well (we've been talking about this on and off for over half a year!) that I have been looking to upgrade my older extended cab Silverado for one of the new 4 door 1/2 ton crew cab models. Alan's keen advice was to wait until after July 4th when the plants start to gear up for the new 2009s. I didn't realize his personal discount fizzled on July 31st. By the way, HUGE thanks to Alan for even offering this up to any of us!! applause I have bugged him about this crap for months on end... hell, that's probably why he moved away!!! cheeky

I've got the truck picked out and visited one of the dealers today. They were extremely lackluster about selling a big V8 gas guzzling pick up to someone who was very serious about buying that truck right now. That one right there, the blue one, look! bang head They hosed me BIG TIME on a potential trade in. They offered my half of what Kelly Blue Book says is current trade in value!! But that didn't come as a big shock. Not many folks buying used V8 pick ups or SUVs right now. I think I will just sell it myself or leave it at my farm. Anyway, I have another dealer close by with two of the exact same pick ups collecting dust on their lot. I will be happy to tell them of the other dealer's lack of interest to deal and my willingness to make this happen right now.

If they have the same attitude, screw it! If it doesn't work out for me I told Alan I would make damn sure that Rich has enough time to hopefully make it work for him! waytogo I will not let it go to waste. That's a promise Rich!
