'13 M1100 EVO - where does this circlip belong?
«

Greetings esteemed Duc riders,
Been reading up for months, first post here. I picked up my '13 Monster in July and just did most of the 7500 mile service in my garage with LT Snyder's manual. Upon putting the clutch cover back on, I found a 5mm ID circlip (E type with 3 points of contact) on the ground. I searched all over the bottom end, could not find where it belongs.
Any suggestions are much appreciated!
FWIW, after some consideration I took it for a ride sans circlip. No indication anything was wrong, but I don't like riding knowing something isn't secured.
Thanks,
Pete

Hopefully only off the bottom of the footpeg pin. Check each one.
A special model and the pinnacle of aircooled desmodue development imo.
Welcome.

I like Koko64's suggestion on the e-clip.
Even tho he's wrong about EVO being the pinnacle of the 2 valve form. Not enough spark plugs

Only weenies need more than one per cylinder.

Great inputs guys thanks, will check those areas soon as I’m home from Thanksgiving Griswold-style road trip.
1 plug or 2 per cylinder, it’s way more pinnacle than my last bike, BMW F650 (one CYLINDER). Consider me converted.

Well I poked all around the underside and through the frame tonight. The circlip is the same one that retains the footpeg hinge pins (good call koko!), but those are all accounted for. Rear brake and gear changer pedals are intact, hunt continues... when not chasing my 2- and 4-yr old around the house.

Kids are evil. One of them misplaced the clip, right under the bike, knowing it would make dad crazy
