Lock and lock pin worn down

I'm pretty sure I'm one of the few, if not the only to experience this - strange issues keep appearing on my 211,000km bike. Yesterday I couldn't lock the seat.

Closer inspection show badly worn locking plate/hook and pin.

New/used locking mechanism might be available.

The pin is another story....  I thought about welding a lump on it and then grind it back to normal, but the seat pan plastic is quite close. Too close?

Thoughts?

Have you tried unscrewing the pin? If the seat pan is plastic it had to be installed and not part of the seat pan.

Can't see any screws.....  I thought the pin is embedded in the plastic....  Maybe accessable from the cushion side....

Lock is available separately. Pin doesn't seem to be.

I'd weld it with a mig welder. Just don't run a bead. Small stitches will build it up enough, and shouldn't get it hot enough to loosen it from the plastic. If it starts getting warm, let it cool. The grind it, slowly, to the proper shape.

You could also try a steel epoxy putty...like this...

try clamping a locking pliers to the bottom of the pin before you weld to serve as a heatsink, my concern is as soon as you hit it with weld it's going to get super hot and loosen in the plastic. And 131k or so miles is incredible

Truly only a "stopintime" problem lol

With a fair amount of experience with welding, the proper procedure won't get the pin very hot.
