Fabio threw down a lap record, and Maverick said hold my beer. Pecco came out of nowhere to put it on the front row. Garrett is at the bottom, but will be the first American to start a MotoGP race since Nicky in 16.

Another dominant display by 1/4. Other Yamaha riders have good and bad days, but he's usually up front. The same for Ducati, with Jack and Baggy having good and bad races, but Z being a regular contender. The technical complexity and critical nature of set up like F1 is exaggerating inconsistency among riders and highlighting track and bike characteristics. 1/4 and Z are doing a great job riding around issues as reflected in the championship standings. Of course a 100% fit MM would make things different, but as we've seen, the Honda can really bite. A few races back I heard local commentators say Ducati had the best all round bike, but not now.  Before that they said the best package was the Suzuki and before that the Yamaha, but they all had to eat their words. Then there's tyres... (Rossi hates the change to softer, less stiff carcass construction that occured a few years ago).

I've never witnessed riders more inconsistent and unable to ride around issues. Finding the sweet spot in set up has never appeared more complex or difficult. Can you remember so many riders consistently appearing vexed race after race?  It's been a technically intriguing season and very exciting as a spectator, but must be an absolute nightmare for riders and teams.
The few that can intuitively ride around issues have always been the ones to beat, but when riders say third place feels like a win due to set up issues, and they are happy, then it must be bad. Second place was considered "first loser" in the previous eras when the rider would bend the bike to their will and ride the wheels off it. Now you hear riders relieved to get third or fourth considering how lost they and their team were with set up.
The way 1/4 is dominating is remarkable. Makes you appreciate MM's achievements against the backdrop of growing technical difficulty and complexity.

My boy had another terrible start yet again, but battled back for 2nd. His post race interview seemed like someone killed his dog. The move to Aprilia seems like it’s gonna happen.
