SSA Eccentric Hub compatbility
«

I was pricing out the replacement of the bearing in my hub and its a whopping $200 bucks and a lot of time. There are instead, many crashed bikes on ebay with lightly used hubs. Does anyone know if the hubs are the same across models? I would venture to say yes, but seeing how my last "does it fit" escapade resulted in it does "NOT" fit, i have to ask again and this time im spending more than just $25 bucks!
On ebay there are HM1100 and M1100 eccentrics that look to be largely unused. Would any of these fit my 2006 S2R1000?
2006 S2R1K Part number : 819.2.042.1A
2007 Same as 2006
2008 M1100 Part Number: 756.2.006.2A
2009 M1100 Part Number: Same as 2008
2012 M1100 EVO: same as 2008 M1100
2008 M1100 Same as 2008 M1100
The part numbers are distinctively different between the S2R1000 and all other SSAs, but as with most ducati parts, they tend to be compatible.

I’d still just replace the bearings, no telling what condition the lightly used hub bearings will be in. I think I have a thread somewhere about replacing the bearings, can’t recall if they were $200, but wheel bearings are sorta important. With that said, the eccentric from any of the swing arms like the S*R are the same.

I read a guide somewhere with a parts list for everything inside the eccentric that needs to be replaced and with shipping it was around $200. The main bearing is already $80.
While there is no way to confirm the bearing condition of a "lightly used" hub, I also dont want to order bearings and take apart my eccentric only to find that something else exploded inside (its got 41K miles and makes a click sound rolling in neutral rolling around).
unfortunately, with coronavirus and my current living and working situation (for some reason my engineering career leads me to be an essential worker due to infrastructure laws around me), my motorcycle is a necessary tool to get around....even when its 0 degrees F outside so I need to reduce down time as much as possible!
