Author Topic: S2r1000 oil cooler hoses/pipes  (Read 3158 times)

Hey!

Modding my s2r1k quite a bit and now I’m just frustrated with the oil cooler hose/pipe being routed over the belt covers. I want to route it through the other side just like the Multistrada 1000ds.

Anyone done this and can advise? Where to get custom pipes in Europe, length, what they’re actually called. I have no idea what I’m doing but I’ve managed to still do quite a bit on this bike Smiley

Use the line from a HyperMotard 1100.  It does exactly what you’re after.

Easiest will be buy the Hyper lines like DS suggested. I made my own with AN fittings and adapters. I had an old thread, maybe on the old board, documenting what the thread pitch is for the adapters at the engine and cooler. Really easy and I think cheaper than Hyper lines, but it requires some work.

Thread into the case & into the cooler are M14x1.5.  You can get the AN adapters and lines for cheaper, but you’ll have to build 2 lines versus just getting the 1 from an 1100 HYM as it looks the same.

Also: the correct adapters are M14x1.5 to AN-6 in case anyone intends to build their own lines.

Sooo... I now finally got around to installing the new fren hypermotard lines on the s2r... this is what happened. What are your thoughts? This happened while screwing in the hose line into the cooler, there was a lot of resistance and then snap.

You need a new cooler.
In the future, always put a wrench on the cooler while installing a hose.

Perhaps it could be Tigd but I’m no expert. Would probably be cheaper to by a used cooler honestly. Tig would also require a pressure test since this has oil running through it.

AFAIK, that's a furnace brazed joint and thus not weldable.

I'm sure it's done regularly in New Zealand, so if you're there you may be in luck.

Otherwise, I'd not even mess with it, get a good used one and move on.
Make sure that 'good used one' is clean.
