Yes, In this digital age, I still use pencil and paper.

Random pencil drawings, many of them from years and years ago, some are not that old.

Start with the latest one, though. (I already posted this in another thread).

Quick sketch “Raquel Welch in Bandolero (1968 movie)”

Tools

Dixon “My First TICONDEROGA” HB#2 pencil

(Dixon Ticonderoga is Frank Thorne’s favorite pencil.)

PRISMACOLOR Non-Photo blue pencil

KA-BAR Dozier folding hunter for sharpening pencils

Kneaded eraser

KA-BAR Dozier
Its one of the most important duty is to sharpen my pencils for sketching.
(Works really great for sharpening pencil.)
The blade length and profile, the grind, bevel angle, this knife has really well thought out design.
And it costs less than 20 bucks !

“Drawing Fujiko Mine”

Really old video from 2009. Low resolution file images.

The origin of tekka maki story

First, there was "painted (acrylic) "version, which I did long, long time ago.
(I have to find the image file to upload. Right now, this video is the only one on the net.)

Originally done as 4-page short short comic story.
So, the picture / text layout don't really work well for video.

Later on, I tried to tell (essentially) the same story without text, graphic only.
(I only did pencil layout. Those are most probably original scans, so resolution is high. You can click on the image to see them on Flickr, you can see A LOT of stray pencil lines.)

(These are TIFF files, and as the way they were scanned. When I show my pencils on the computer screen, I would normally adjust contrast and brightness with Photoshop. But these files are not adjusted.)

Strange dream

I normally don’t dream.
Well, technically,  I don’t remember them because I go Non REM sleep just before waking up.
(Scientists say, virtually every human being has REM sleep, therefore, every human being
dreams. It’s just that some don’t remember when they wake up.)

Anyhow, one Sunday morning, I woke up from strange dream, and I remembered it very vividly.
(Which is rare case for me.)

So, I grabbed pencil and paper, tried to put that down on paper, while the memory is still fresh.
That’s why the drawings are so rough and crude, I had to work really fast trying to draw what
I saw (or rather, experienced) in that dream.

It was 2008.

 waytogo

I've always been reasonably adept at art, but I've never been able to draw people or animals, mainly the faces.
