Definition of each for NH:
https://www.drivinglaws.org/resources/new-hampshire-negligent-vehicular-homicide-laws-and-penalties.html

He's currently charged with 7 counts of Negligent Homicide.

If he was DUI it's a Class A felony, conviction is up to 15 years in prison, up to $4k fine.
Not DUI, Class B felony, up to 7 years in prison, up to $4k fine.

Manslaughter is a higher level offense, up to 30 years in prison.

I've no idea how they figure sentencing on multiple convictions.
I suspect he will effectively serve a lifetime sentence.

Also, I wager that Westfield Transport will be burned to the ground, for all intents and purposes.
I doubt they had sufficient liability insurance to cover this, and I suspect that coverage is excluded for negligent acts.
They may well face criminal prosecution as well, in light of his prior DWI offenses.
Certainly they'll be buried by civil suits.

I'm puzzled by his release from the accident scene, that makes zero sense to me.

I suspect there will be several more circles of hell opening for all persons associated with him.

I can guarantee that if there was any chance of DUI he never would have been allowed to leave the state.

Exactly my thought, but given the severity of the accident, I'm surprised he wasn't arrested on the spot due to that alone.

It's why we have laws...

which is not to be discussed here. Grin

I'd call that a clustermake the beast with two backs, but that would be a heinous insult to all the other clustermake the beast with two backss before.

Ok - homicide sounds more like what we have. Previously it was up to the police to prosecute and they often didn't.

It's never been up to the police to prosecute. They can make a recommendation to the DA but that's it.

He wasn't showing signs of impairment at the scene or he would not have been released. So not likely an alcohol DUI. And unless they drew blood in a timely manner, which you need a warrant for, then they won't have a case for DUI. Not likely he will get life for one incident where he did not have the intention of killing 1 let alone 7 people.

Yes that company is likely toast. But from news reports some culpability in their defense lies with the DMV that failed to make the proper restrictions on his license.

Stopintime is located in Norway, so likely different prosecution structure.

In Norway. These cases were handled as traffic accidents.

I'm getting the distinct impression that we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg.
Every time it goes sideways I think, "Oh, that's it.".
Then it goes sideways again.

Which clustermake the beast with two backs is being insulted?

It's just a question. Tongue

This C/F has so many pderbyerous dimensions and as-yet undeveloped plot twists that it beggars belief.
It feels like one of the "Aircraft Disaster" videos.
But it would have to begin with the pilot inspecting a 3 foot hole in the wing and saying "Yep, looks legit, let's roll."

Seems to be clearly vying for #1 alltime C/F, and therefore redefine the term.

IMO.
