I was at the track Saturday and Sunday. Our seats were in the turn 16 area like usual. I took the opportunity on Saturday to walk from turn 2 all the way to the bottom of the track (turn 11) and up the back straight back towards our seats. It was during the MotoAmerica Superbike race, holy shit are the turns 9-10 freaking incredible to watch in person, and there is virtually NOBODY down there. It is literally at the edge of the COTA property, but there are no stands, no bathrooms, no food, nothing but the footpath and service roads. It is too bad because it would be incredible to sit and watch from there.

Unfortunately walking up from 11 toward 12 (where Marquez went down) the foot path in on the outside of where the RV's park so you cannot see anything from there. But most of the footpath offers great viewing.

I have never before heard the crowd react like it did when Marc went down, it was insane! I hate it for him but I think it was obviously the Rossi fans (me included) as well as folks just thrilled that someone else was finally going to win. In a perfect world someone would have beat Marquez head-to-head and not because of a crash but that is part of racing.

It was another fun as hell weekend, aside from the waiting game on Saturday morning.

Sounds like it was a good time. Hell, take a pop up awning and a cooler next year, and camp out at that section. As always, this (and all forms of racing) needs to be seen in Person! No video footage, broadcasting etc etc etc., comes close to the actual live event.
