Igniters

Searching around for replacement for a 2000 M750 & getting conflicting info on these (
https://www.electrosport.com/collections/street-motorcycles-ducati-2000-m750-monster/products/pe-c-md900-a-igniter-ducati-600ss750ss900ssm600-900-as-kokusan-denki-bb110
.) ElectroSport website says it'll fit, but various other vendors site say no. Anyone with firsthand experience with these units? As always thanks in advance.

They work, Kokusan 1105 is the name of OEM igniters.
This is more bang for da buck:
http://www.ignitech.cz/en/vyrobky/tcip/tcip.htm
Programmable but their default Ducati curve works just fine.

Thanks, they look a little more complicated than plug-n-play tho.

If they have an improved advance curve rather than the crude Kokusan advance step/angle then that should help low rpm smoothness.
I think Electrex in the UK do a similar version. Ignitech is great if you are modifying your motor. Great for hi comp applications.

No, it's stock. Just planning on spending some tax return on updating some e-components (igniters & coils) since both are 18 yrs old.

Igniters don't wear, IMO. They either work, or they don't. Buying spares isn't a bad idea, but I'd run the stockers until they stop working.
If you do change them out, be very gentle with the connectors. They're fragile.

If you buy an Ignitech for Ducati, it`s plug-n-play. Preprogrammed w map for Ducatis and connectors to suit.

Thanks for the replies & guidance guys. So if I understand correctly the OEM are good til they're not. The PE-C-MD900-A's will fit my bike. And a single one would work as a spare for either?

Assuming the advance curve is the same, yes...a single unit would be fine.
I don't know if the curves are the same.
eta...the bike will run even if the curves are different. It would be better than having the bike down. If it runs funny you could always source another Electrosport unit.

They are quick. For future reference. "Thank you for your interest in our products. The units are interchangeable between both sides of the OEM igniters. You do not need to replace both if only one igniter has failed." This maybe a stupid question but how would one diagnose the igniter as the culprit if the bike started running crappy.

Swap the igniters from one cylinder to the other.

Swap igniters to their opposite cylinder, see if the crappy running follows the igniter.
IME, the 'crappy running' will actually be the engine running on 1 cylinder, pretty obvious lack of power.
I think the majority of failed igniters are due to loose battery connections.

I'd elaborate to ground connections anywhere on the bike.
