Hi, I have a 749S/999 Showa rear shock, on internet people change the shock and the spring. The spring rate is 75Nm, but this is for 80kg driver, my stock shock(S2R800) have a ration 100Nm but i have a problem because bike is waving in the corner. On the other side I found Ohlins technical that for a 55kg driver(thats my weight) is the spring with only a 58Nm. So I think that stock 749S with 75Nm gona be good and I hope that the bike be more stable in the corner.

You can't use spring weight recommendations for a SBK on a Monster. The linkage ratios are different. Use the recommendations for a Monster.

The valving is a different story. It may, or may not work for you.

You should also consider that te 749/999 shock has a stroke of 71 mm, whereas the Monster shock has a stroke of 66 mm. This might create a problem if you encounter a large bump; I don´t know where the rear wheel might end up on full compression with the longer stroke shock.

I think this is the same shock i am using ...I have no issues with it at all

That being said I got it off a guy who was 200 lbs and he had it setup for his weight ...I am 220 so close enough

The only small problem is a very slight rub on the swing arm

OK, if it works, it works.

I´d still keep an eye on it, though ....

If you ever have the shock serviced, it´s easy to have the stroke adjusted acc. to the Öhlins spec to the specific application.
