anybody using one of these aluminum rings? can you post some pics or an explanation of how its mounted? i have the FBF version and i don't see how the little clips would hold it on without some sort of lip or groove in the alloy? i see there are some holes drilled in it but it came with no other parts or instructions so im kind of confused

might go buckwild with grinder im sure i can make something work lol

Wild guess...the ring was mounted with screws into the airbox flange.

You're going to have to re-jet your carbs if you use that ring or a drilled top.

I have a spare which is the slotted version which uses the clips.
I would rather do this.

while i appreciate the responses, and i dont want to be a weiner here, but your first mistake was assuming the bike was carbureted lol

its an EFI M900ie with a DP ecu, which will need to go for a proper tune once its all reassembled, airbox or not Wink

Actually, you misrepresented your Monster as 'old'. Kiss

Suggestion:

Year and model of your bike in your profile.

Most folk just cut the airbox lid and use the remainder as a ring.

well for all intents and purposes, a 2000 model IS "old" lol, especially considering the bike is in its 3rd or 4th generation now? but now we're splitting hairs...

anywho, in the past ive seen a lot of pics online with similar products holding the filter in place, i just never paid attention to the mounting in itself and i cant figure out how to make this one work while utilizing these holes lol

i e-mailed FBF but figured id try my luck here

oh not for people, no. im a 1979 myself lol

but again, for the purpose of my question, "old monster" was an accurate way of asking about the airbox, since all the air cooled pre 2002 bikes used the same or basically the same airbox, fitting the ring to any of the "old" monsters would be the same

Pictures....

thanks!, but mine doesnt have that groove/channel, yet Wink

and i literally just got a response back from Ferracci, he says to bend the stock ones. im not entirely sure what that means yet...

Me: "hello. i received your ducati monster airbox delete ring today and i dont see any way of mounting it? i was expecting there to be a groove or channel in the aluminum for the OEM clips to snap into, but alas, i was mistaken. im sure i could cut some, i just thought id ask you first"

Response: "Can modify the stock ones bye bending
Thanks
Best
Eraldo "

I don't know what what is meant by bending the stock one., other than the clips can be bent. The ring, not so much.

Pictures.

The one in my spares box is this one.^

As DP said, it really does seem like the frame you have screws into the airbox flange . Interested to hear if the holes line up with the screws holding the filter support frame. Machining a groove should work and the clips do have to be bent over a little to stay in position.
