Paint is flaking off the sump at the bottom of the engine, not completely sure if this is a separate casting and just didn’t get a good prep at the factory or what. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this in situ, what paint to use etc.

And, we’ve had a terrible humid rainy summer & fall. The fittings at the oil cooler lines have rust on them. I thought they were stainless but perhaps they are electroless nickel but regardless they have rusted. Going to remove them
next oil change & abrade the corrosion off as it is quite unsightly.

And one last advice request- the screws on the sump cover are seized. Haven’t stripped them out completely because I quit while I was ahead but repeated soakings with Kroil have brought no joy. Need a final solution. Have replacement screws on hand. Removal method? I was going to use an impact screw thingy, kind you tap with a hammer. The soft metal is going to strip though. So I might as well skip to the drill. Anyone have FHE with this problem? Thank you

Road grit picked up from the tire blasts the somewhat dodgy paint off.
KalGard makes some good engine paint.

Oil cooler fittings typically rust, 'normal service' there.

That oil screen cover setup is awful, using button head screws in a high-torque application is nutty.
You can use a sharp cold chisel to make a bit of a groove, and then a blunter one to get the bolt turning.
Remember it's on the bottom, so think twice on directions so you're not tightening it.....

I've not searched specifically for that size, but there is limited availability of high-strength bolts in button head.
I'd search those out before putting the OEM fasteners in.

There are 10.9 spec bolts there.

Thank you Speeddog. Now I think I may try to find an aftermarket sump cover that uses an o-ring and SS fasteners.

CorrosionX will be painted onto all the fasteners from now on, fittings too.

IMO, the factory didn't use a thin piece of steel, sealer, and button head screws just because it was easy.

That cover is the lowest point, and I do occasionally see them with grind marks on 'em.

Just like all the full-Termi systems I've seen on S4Rs's have flat spots on the bottom loop.

So there's not a lot of room for a real cover. Unfortunately.

can get a TPO part from Bellissimoto, but I’ve already got a replacement gasket & two sets of replacement screws so...guess I’ll just use ‘em
