Where to get Brembo MC service?
«

Does Brembo have service centers for their aftermarket forged and billet GP master cylinders? Not the external crash repair kit thing, but internal teardown and refurbishment including piston seals, etc. and a clean bill of health.

I'm not aware of any.
It's been years since I've seen any brake rebuild parts, for on road use, available in the US.
According to the lawyers, we're not smart enough to repair hydraulic parts associated with brakes.

Sadly this seems to be the case. I don't have a problem tossing a suspect coffin MC, but heck the billet GP type are $600 and more. I put the question to Brembo and I'm still waiting for a reply. I did notice a race shop in the UK will do a full service and pressure test, but international shipping makes that unappealing. Hopefully these aren't becoming throw away parts.

Brembo support here in US has been flaky at best since they threw Fred/Yoyodyne under the bus.

Fred did a great job. Anyway, rebuild kits for the newer Brembo brake hydraulics han't been around for quite a while.

I always liked yoyodyneti and still run some of their parts. Don't know the details with Brembo there, but not too long ago one of the subsequent distributors stated they were suing Brembo. Seems to be pattern. Shame. None of it good for keeping our bikes running/stopping.

Maybe try Optimum Performance or are they facing the same issues as Fred ?
Fred was a great resource and very helpful. I only discovered his shop because of this place.
I have had luck with some auto brake specialists who use their own seals, etc and have the certification to do compliance brake work (and significant indemnity insurance). Since Brembo equipment is a common performance option or upgrade for performance cars, maybe that's an avenue of enquiry?

I'm still getting details, but I understand the current approved workflow is to send it to the USA distributor, who then forwards to Italy for service. Sounds time consuming and expensive. Easier to just buy another part (accountants at Brembo snicker with delight). I believe OPP is current/OK and TAW is yoyodyne redux wrt Brembo.

I don't know what the problem was, but things were not good when TAW was the importer.
OPP seems to be pretty friendly and effective, so I'm a happy camper as far as Bremboland goes.
I have been told that the automotive side of their business is F'N huge, especially compared to the moto stuff.
So there may be some variance on priority.

My earlier inquiry to Brembo Italy was forwarded to USA importer Race Technologies. Speaking only for the aftermarket parts, they don't have a service program for the forged/cast GP master cylinders because it's not cost effective. The newer billet GP master cylinders can be rebuilt, but my ~2005 billet unit is unfortunately a previous non-rebuildable design. I'll purchase new ones.

I found this page from Opp... any help?
https://www.oppracing.com/product_display/3850-brembo-high-performance-pushrod-replacement-kit-for-radial-master-cylinders/
It does say "- not for several CNC - Radial Master Cylinder from Brembo!"

Those are the so-called “crash repair kits” that replace the dust seals and rod that actuates the piston via the lever. All those parts are external to to the hydraulics and piston itself. I inquired with OPP last week about the rebuild pathway, but never heard back.
Below is the UK race shop that offers same-day repair and rebuild services. Repair = install the crash kit. Rebuild = strip, clean, piston seals and pressure test. Would be great to have a service like this available in the USA.
https://parkitt-performance-motorcycle-racing.myshopify.com/products/brembo-master-cylinder-servicing-repair
Update 10/19/18. For the record, OPP did eventually respond and they were very knowledgeable and helpful. Same story as Race Technologies - only the billet type MC are economical to repair at Brembo Italy (presumably >$300 charge) and no piston parts/seals are available for diy refurbishment.
