Hello all,

Figured you guys would have more info than what I’ve been able to find on the web and here the past couple days. Probably because I’m not familiar with Ducati’s at all except for the fact that I think they’re incredible looking bikes. I’d like to jump in to the Ducati world also. I have a couple Harley’s, a Triumph and a Yamaha. I work at Harley, we just got this guy in. From what I can gather it’s a 2002 750. Obviously had some stuff swapped out. I’m usually a black paint guy but this isn’t too bad. Runs great, 9000 miles. I’m just Ducati dumb. The whole reason I joined here. Thoughts on it? Like I said, I don’t know Duc. My triumph is an 09 Speed Triple, I’d love to have a Monster right beside it. Not sure which one to look for though. Not big on new bikes. I dig the older glass headlights.

Thanks!

Welcome.

If it's really an '02 it's the only year that the Monster was fuel injected. It's definitely been painted, and the cans aren't stock. Looks good.

Make sure you change the timing belts. The damage from a broken one isn't worth the chance.

Öhlins steering damper, Ducati Performance footpegs and Corbin seat, good aftermarket improvments.
Do ask him if airbox is opened and if it`s injection is remapped and last service of belt & valves.

Sig’s off. Didn’t know about that.

The paint was throwing me off, couldn’t find it anywhere in searching pics. Didn’t look like a repaint, whoever did it did a great job.

It’s definitely an 02 and FI, I checked the VIN. Are these FI systems any good? Always hesitant to get anything that has a system that was only run for a limited time or if it’s the first year of it.

Those tanks were available from Ducati in that time frame.
Likely replaced a damaged OEM tank, although some folks sprang for them outright.

The FI system on that bike was used on nearly all Ducatis for ~5 years.

Nate, Isn't that one of the old DP catalog tanks? Seen a few red ones, but never in black.

Edit: SD was typing at the same time as me. Well as I remember that had about 5 different suite in the early 'naughts.

That makes sense why I can’t find a pic of this paint scheme. I dig it though

Didn’t see any damage, might be why they changed the sets and bars out though and probably did the new bodywork at the same time.

I do like the fact that all controls are Brembo. Calipers and MC’s. Again, don’t know if that’s a Ducati thing from the factory. My triumph came with brembo calipers up front but a nisin mc. I swapped it to a 19rcs, huge difference

Tank
Rearsets
Exhaust cans and S-pipes
Clipons
Steering damper
Tailchop
Corbin seat (looks to be for a Gen1 bike)

All else appears OEM bits.

dp and bdfinally are jogging my memory, I don't recall seeing that style tank in a low-key color such as that.

I may still have an old Ducati Performance catalog on pdf at home. I'll check after work. I've run across one example of my tank (Monster Storm) with the whole suite installed on a bike. I wasn't too impressed.

Awesome thanks man. Already tons of good info from you guys. I’m going to stop by the shop and go over it a little closer. Take it for a little ride. See how much we gave on the trade in for it, it’s what I’ll pay. That might make the decision for me.

I think...not that I really remember...the 'Checkered Flag' tank came in red and black.

Like bd says, there were maybe 4 or 5 other designs by different artists. They weren't very common.

Can't locate the DP catalog, must be on an old HD. Did find this site  with a couple examples.
