My wifes 620 has a milky film on oil sight glass no matter how long it has run. Also the plastic on the speedo and tach is starting to craze and crack, have pulled apart and sealed dried out and now these are starting to fog. The bike is not left out in weather. Any help cherished. Not real happy with quality of dash!

Some have found that the sight glass clears after opening the oil filler cap to release the vapor after a ride. Others have had the sight glass run clear after fitting a small air filter to the breather box under the seat and removing the hose to the airbox and plugging the hole. The filter on the breather box allows the steam vapor to escape from the crankcase.

Fogged gauges are an issue worth using the search function to resolve. This issue has come up quite a few times. A new gasket with added water proof sealant might work. A bikini fairing may help shield the gauges from the weather.

My sight glass clears up after a reasonable length ride with the stock braether set up.

You might have sealed the gauge housing too tight. They have a weep hole at the bottom for a reason. The entire dash setup on that generation bike was,and still is, problematic.

An ecu flash will allow you to use any gauge set you want. It will require losing the immobilizer function of the dash.

Basically it is nothing to worry about if you have an air-cooled Monster.

Could be a possible problem if your 'bike is water cooled tho.

My gauges used to fog, then shorted out one day due to corrosion.  I threw a silica gel pack in there to try and offset some of the moisture after the fact, haven't had fogging problems since.  (Still shorted, but hopefully doesn't corrode any more.)

No more fogged oil sight glass since fitting a Corse Dynamics breather kit to the oil seperator/breather box. I never liked the idea of condensation contaminating the oil. I also rather not have oil mist contamination of the inlet charge.

The milky on the sight glass is just latte foam. ;)  [coffee]

Ride the bike for a good while and get it up to temperature. Come home, park it, shut it off (very important), open up the oil fill plug and let it sit. The moisture will be released. Just don't forget to put the plug back on before riding it again. It might take a couple times to get it to go away.
