I know it has probably been discussed before, but I nned help figuring out why my brake light stay on.
I purchased a Ducati Monster Tail Chop Kit for my 2011 796ABS. The install was relatively easy and required no cutting of wires except license plate light wires.
When I got it all back together, the rear brake light it light up like the levers are being pulled/pressed. Electrical is not my strong point.
Any suggestions or ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Could be that you have the wires backwards. You may have the running light wore hooked up to the brake light wire. Try switching them.

Yellow is tail and grey/red is brake.  If the wiring OK one of the switches is not working properly.  Since all was good pre-tail chop, not so fine after...

like howie said, it could be a problem with a switch.  I have an issue with the rear brake switch on my monster, where the pos little switch is just a little plastic nub and it's all bent and get stuck inbetween the rear sets and the part of the brake pedal that is supposed to push it to turn the light off when youre not braking, so it stays on sometimes

i should really fix it, but i always forget about it since i cant see it when i'm riding and it doesnt have any effect on how the bike rides

Actually, although howie does mention the switches, I think the point of his post was that the most likely culprit is the light assy reinstallation since all was well prior to that, and an inspection/adjustment of the switches would be plan B.

Purposely riding with a constant/intermittent brake light could precipitate an unintended meeting.  :o

I guess what I was trying to get across was that it's possible that it was a problem before he swapped the light out, and he just now noticed since he made the change and had a closer look at it.

and youre right, I should fix that stupid switch for good. [bang]
