Why? I mean sure he seems to be a bit nutty but he's a heck of an actor.
Cause the character in the books is 6'5" tall and 250lbs, Cruise isn't even close to either one of those. Also, if they (the studio) decides to carry on with the franchise I don't believe for a minute that Tom Cruise could beat most of the bad guys that are described in any of the books. But he does own the rights so I guess he can do whatever he likes, it's just a disappointment to the fans of the books. Myself included. Even though the character is supposed to be white, The Rock would have been a better cast just based on his stature! |
