We made a trip this past weekend to Kutchner Caverns in Benson, AZ and came across something very unexpected.... "Cave Bacon"

Check it out:




Probably the oldest of all the bacon!!!

I used to work with Zane Kartchner in Tucson.  They actually took a sample of that ancient bacon slab and discovered it was in fact turkey bacon..made by the Hopi Indian tribe.   bacon

My ex had an old Romanian recipe for turkey that used bacon and a lot of red wine.  Best damn turkey I ever had!!

You mean there are other ways to cook a turkey?!

Ever since I could remember,  there was at least a pound of bacon covering the turkey, and my dad would use a gallon jug of apple cider to baste it in.   drool
