A small introduction. I got the bike new in 2008 and made a few minor upgrades over the years. First was the tail chop, full exhaust, DP ECU, the vizi-tec taillight (actually two, I started with the SN490 and now using the HSi), rearsets and various carbon and billet accessories. Finally decided to make a total rebuild.

Summer 2012 photos:

Rebuild start.
First I decided to make the proper tail chop similar to Motocreations Black Fog and solve the problem with the passenger foot pegs. The stock ones are too ugly to be on the bike all the time and its quite annoying to bolt them on/off and change the side panels from stock with cutouts to carbon with no cutouts.

I cut off the passenger grab handles and the seat lock, rewelded the frame ends, added the tabs for the taillight and put everything back together.
Also welded the nuts for the Bimota DB6 passenger pegs, which I will be using for this project.

Dremeled the stock plastic covers to make sure I don't mess up the carbon ones on my first attempt.

How do you like those S&P rearsets? I'm thinking of picking up  a pair.

I like the quality and the simple look. The option to buy spare parts in case of damage is also a plus as opposed to buying a new set.

Thanks. It's a Ducati low seat with custom alcantara upholstery.

While waiting for some parts to arrive frame mods are put on hold.
Started working on headlight/gauge combo and rearsets.

First the gauge.
I always wanted to use a single gauge instead of the stock cluster, but the only option available on the market - Motogadget just isn't my cup of tea, so decided to make one from scratch.
It will be a 90mm tachometer with small colour display for speed, gear, temp and one single control button will give the option to scroll through fuel %, trip odometer, clock and outside temp. Being a fan of Panerai watches, designed a metal sandwich dial with panerai numbers.
Preliminary gauge designs.

Display layout.

The idea is to integrate the gauge into the headlight housing. I cut a piece of 50mm high and 90mm diameter pipe to see how deep I can sink it. Next step is using it as a model for carbon fiber housing.

Now the rearsets.
Got a brand new set of Ducati Performance titanium 999 rearsets and I knew they must be on this monster project.

A sketch (planned to use the exhaust support bolt as fix point)

First mock-up (before I make it using proper materials) using one of stock rearsets fix points, tomorrow will change it to the exhaust hanger point and angle the rod towards the engine.

Ok, no problem.

The start-up screen with ability to reset the last top speed achieved.

Emergency modes. In case more than one takes place they will appear for 3 seconds each.

Shift light.
3 points are set for a three stage shift light, in my case 8500, 8750 and 9000
When reaching these rpm the white LEDs are turned off and red light on.

It's a universal gauge platform made here in Russia, which will be programmed and customised according to my design. 18 possible inputs are more than enough for my application.

Very nice Alex. I'll personally be watching popcorn
We'll see about getting you some more electronics for it.

Interesting - can't seem to find anything similar in the US but didn't search that hard. I see it also has a CAN bus interface as well as the discrete inputs.

Do you send them the drawings and they program the small OLED or do you do it yourself from a computer?
