Thx guys. I'm no wrench so I had a dealership do a full inspection of the bike. Even tho the seller didn't give her attention on the road, he did have all that stuff addressed before listing the bike -- if only all the people I dealt with in the world were this meticulous -- and the dealership warrantied out the old tank and got me a brand new one.
As far as the Caswell coating goes... I've read a bunch of posts from people on multiple forums who have coated their tanks and still have issues. According to some of them, unless the tank was coated during the manufacturing process the coating isn't guaranteed to address the expansion problem; something having to do with the coating not completely "bonding" to the inside of the tank. I plan to ride the bike several times per week so I don't expect it to sit for long periods with a full tank. Hope it's not a major issue down the road but, she'll end up being more of a street-hooker than a garage-queen
