Didn’t think you fancied that chassis.

All the Ducati's made the 1290SDR possible!

I would have to get on one again. The 790 seemed a tad small to me but what was more bothersome was the fact that the suspension was total mush. Just like a 690 Duke compared to the 701 SM. 701 way better than the Duke. Can't speak to the new 690 supermoto. The 890 is supposed to have better suspension and better power. The 1290R is great but with the more race suspension I have on it it's getting to be a bit of a hand full with our shit roads. Smooth roads yes but when you are dealing with that engine braking rolling off into a corner and that huge grunt pull when back on the gas the last thing you need is dealing with ruts & bumps bouncing you everywhere. My fault for setting up the suspension like I did but when I first got it the roads weren't so bad and the stock suspension had that bit of wiggle-bob in transitions. On good pavement now, when I can find it, it's lights out. Good pavement is the operative.  waytogo

I was at the race track helping a guy out in exchange for all his take off tires.  He was on a 1098 with the factory ohlins stuff and he said don't bother buying high end suspension parts when you buy a bike.

His advice was buy the base model that has the engine you want and to upgrade the suspension yourself.  His feeling was that the mass produced Ohlins stuff wasn't the same quality as the normal parts you'd get from them.

I always felt like that made sense.

True. The grade of parts that Ohlins sells Ducati is not the same as you can buy.

According to the Vet, Ohlins stuff unless you buy the highest end, isn't all that great any more.

Yesterday I stopped by a local multi-make moto dealer to pick up a wheel I had them mount up a new tire on. There was a brand spankin' new 690 SMC R sitting on the floor. Oh, mama.

Want, want, want. I almost slipped in my own drool trying to get out of there before I bought yet another bike.

You couldn't go wrong with that one.  Had I known KTM was going to release that bike again in the States I wouldn't have bought my 701SM in 2018. Not that I regret it for a singe instant but the new KTM has some nice bits the Husky doesn't have.   waytogo  waytogo  waytogo

Yeah.....I have to go back in there soon to pick up another newly mounted wheel and tire and I'm sure I'll have to gaze longingly at it again.

If my employer hadn't seen fit to cripple my pay these days due to the scurvy, I'd probably be doing more than gazing.  Tongue

Can that moto be fitted with a license plate?
I'm asking for a friend.

Tell him it most certainly can, and he could also get a second set of wheels with some sticky street rubber.
