So about a month ago I decided to have my bike painted after a very minor accident. Well painting the bike turned into a bunch of new bolt-ons, which turned into painting the frame, which turned into wanting to clean and paint the motor cases, which some how morphed into total disassemble including dropping the motor and that is where I am now. I guess the point of this thread is kinda looking for any suggestions on things I should do while i have my bike in boxes (something I don't want to do again for a very long time). I just don't want to look back in another month or so and have a list of things that I wish I would have done. Also Saturday is the day I am pulling the motor so any pointers on doing this I would love to hear. Thanks in advance.

No advice other than I never loved the gray / silver frame, yellow much better over black IMO. Black over red is awesome on the OG Monster. Seen some pretty green schemes too. Good luck! Do all your suspension maint - swing arm and steering head bearings. Pics if you please.

I pulled a project bike down the bolts as well....... Wish I would have smoothed out the frame welds.

Replace all of the fasteners with stainless. McMaster Carr is great for this.

Was doing some prepping on the motor for paint and ran into this on the starter. So I had to take off the left cover. Did get these goodies back from PC finally some forward progress. Gusset on lock bracket came out pretty good if I say so myself.
