Still in closed beta, right? I wasn't special enough to be invited to that.

I'm curious to try it when it goes public.

It's hard finding an invite and then getting in. I'm still out of luck. Seems like those people who mass invite are only getting the first 5-10 people in and the rest our left in the cold.

Got an invite but I can't use it here at work so I'll have to wait until I log into my home computer.

Unlike other google products, there's not a set number of invites displayed on the page (e.g. gmail, google voice). From screenshots I've seen, there is an invite link, but everyone is saying that it's not necessary to use that link (which comes and goes).

What you do have to do is share a post with those who you want to invite. I was able to secure one, but he invited me along with like 30 of his other friends. Only a few got in. I along with the rest are outside looking in. I've read from a google engineer that it's pointless to mass invite people because it won't work (perhaps that invite link expires). Rather, he suggested to invite only a few close friends.

What is so cool about google+ that we're all scrambling for invites?

I suppose in the end, I would have way more friends that don't have Ducs (and in FB or G+) than those that do (on DMF). Perhaps I need to re-evaluate my friends circle....

I think the hope is that it will be somewhat less evil than Facebook.

I think it has been designed with the ability for friends to be compartmentalized. For FB, it's more of an afterthought, probably as a result of the old Friendster and MySpace model.

It sounds like the hope is for the user to have more control (or at least have an easier time controlling) who sees what content. Privacy concerns and stuff.

In that respect, perhaps it will be better than Facebook. We'll see though!

I have to say, and perhaps this is only a product of the Google PR machine, but Google seems less evil than most companies its size. Facebook is totally evil and acts like it has the most number of users on its site. Like a monopoly. Hopefully, G+ will bring FB in line.
