That's right. Your couch, Your beer, i'm stopping by.

As Part 2 (Part1) of my retirement travels I'm going to take a tour of the US. So far the plan is to go North, East, South, then West. Stopping along major monuments, tourists attractions, National parks along the way. And also visiting the members of the DMF, mainly cause i don't believe you people actually exist. So if your willing to open your front door or clear some camping space in the back yard ill stop by. Or no room to host, lets meet at your favorite dive bar.  drink No real plans for destinations just may connect the dots of DMF'ers and see whats in between.  Heading North first from San Francisco so Oregon and Washington DMF'ers speak up. Jbubble, Mother looking at you first. May pop into Canada for a few days then drop back to the states.

Post up or PM if you want to meet up or join in part of the ride. Won't be on a Duc so be be surprised, this would my practice tour for Part 3 South America.

Who's in? cheeky Hopefully summer will get here so i don't freeze my ass off on the ride.

You should plan on the east coast DIMBY in August. If you can't make it then there's always a spot here for a DMFer.

Looks like you're planning on hitting central NH.

If you get a bit farther North in Wisconsin, we have plenty of room and I don't need much of an excuse to do some pretty ok cooking.  Welcome!

When is east cast DIMBY? Ill see if i can make it happen. A month to get across the states shouldn't be too hard to do.

waytogo Cool will try to give you a weeks notice before stopping by, i like to keep things fluid to take advantage of any opportunities/ great suggestions that come up. I know this won't work for everyone but we can try our best.

laughingdp That was kind of the idea to let you know I dont have a planned route. North, East, South, West is the only plan i have, everything else will be determined the a few days before.

a time framework might help some in this regard...some members with families may have vacations and so forth to contend with and whatnot...
congrats on the retirement BTW!!!

The best i can do is about a weeks notice, just trying to do my best to "wing it" on this trip. Mostly for me, i tend to get goal oriented if there is a plan and a goal in mind. So if i dont make any specific goals, it gives me the mental freedom to stop for whatever reason and enjoy where im at.

Guess i should have put "retirement" in quotes cheeky I'm only 33 and don't feel like working right now, so travel it is.

Yes, yes and yes. Thanks guys. Ill have a better idea once i get on the road and start looking at a map, ill try to give as much advanced notice as possible.

Fellow DMFers--

As someone who has known DanTheMan for quite some time now, has drank with him, raced with him, crashed with (i.e. into) him, slept with him (uh, really?), lemme share with y'all what kind of a guy he is . . . .   If DanTheMan says he needs a place to crash, RUN THE make the beast with two backs AWAY!!!!!!!!  It's like the Mongol horde rollin' into town.  Take your women and children and run for the hills.

Have a good trip, DTM.   waytogo   Dolph

P.S. Dan, you sure gonna be able to fit your entire collection of human ears in those saddle bags?   Grin
