I need a new tire within 1,000 miles but my 3,500mile trip will require a change now! I am a big fan of riding in the rain (okay maybe not but i always end up in rain) and i commute a lot with weekend rides and occasional trackdays if i can make it. the Pilot Road 2 @ the track was great, very predictable tire and great life! defintely picking these up. even if the tread pattern does look a bit ridiculous.

in french, but good footage if you dont understand.

I saw a Road 3 the other day.

It looks very much like the new Pure in that the front profile is more round, which seems to be the way Michelin is going.

If you like a front tire that steers a bit quicker I stay with the Road 2

The PR3 looks promising, but I haven't tried one yet.  I have run pilot roads, pilot road 2s and Avon storms.  The avons turned in a bit more slowly than the PR2s, but stuck noticeably better in the wet and were more neutral once leaned over.  My favorite rubber to date.

i am interested in these as well... hoping to see a set in person before going buying a set outright, but I may bite anyhow.

After talking to a buddy that works at Micheline...

The 2's are better if most of your riding is dry.  Better handling, better life.  The 3's are like Pilot 2 wets.  Notably better in the wet, but wear faster and dont handle as quick in dry...


I dont ride much at all in the rain.  I just bought the 2's

i'd really like to get ahold of some Pures as well. I think that's the one that's supposed to be a lot lighter than the competing tires from other manufacturers, like the Dunlop Q2's.   I am reminded of the Shazaam article on being choosy with tires can end up with the result of "free lightweight wheels" (to which one could have lighter lightweight wheels by being choosy in tire selection if you already got lightweight wheels, or vice-versa, you could think of it as heavier tires cancelling out all that money you spent on the lightweight wheels!)
