Hey all , I have an '05 S2R 800. I have the Red Key, and the code card. I just bought a black key blank, and had it cut. I am wondering how I go about programming the transponder inside the black key to match that of the red key? I'd like to avoid a trip to the dealer as the Dealer down here is quite a joke!  Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

It's a bit of a process.

your owner's manual will tell you how to do it. if you don't have it, you can download if off the Ducati site.

You can also use the search box on this site, but I'd start with the manual.

here's the process....pretty simple, but you actually need at least 2 black keys, and your red key. No card required (but don't lose it....its very important.)

Read over this porcedure before starting
Re-read until you completly understand, this all occurs VERY quickly.

1. OK, start by keeping all keys away for 60 sec.

2. Get all keys ready, but not near the ignition (i like to line them up on a table next to the bike)

3. Insert red key and turn on (you will notice the dash counts down from 15.....before it gets to zero, remove red key, and insert a black key and turn to on)

4. After inserting the first black key and turning on, you will notice it re-starts the countdown, now  remove that key, and insert your next key, turn to on (again, it will start a countdown)

5. Now remove the last black key, and re-install your red key, turn to on and it will start a countdown yet again. Without removing the key, turn off, then turn on and the dash will flash "off"  You should be set. Remove your red key and wait at least 60 sec. Now try one of the black keys (it should work), remove, wait, then try the other black key (confirm it works) You should be good to go. Now go put the red key in the safe with the code card as they are VERY important and you do not want to lose them.

Hope this helps
