First, that whole video made me giggle a bit more than it should have. Second, my experimentation with chicken carcasses and the Barnes "Varmint Grenade" ammo resulted in similar levels of carnage and giggling. |

So the .458 SOCOM thing is much closer to reality.
Checked out what Brownells had available and with the XL upper being "dirt cheap" and the barrel/bolt combo being less than $250, I went ahead and ordered them.
Now I just need the BCG and then to pick out a front guard and a charging handle and I will be able to pop the 2 pivot pins, swap uppers and can even use the same 5.56 NATO mags I already have.
Ammo still isn't cheap but 300+gr vs 77gr makes for a lot more short range stopping power and if I ever want to start doing ELR shooting, I can look at buying a bolt action .50 BMG or a .338 Lapua for that.

Because it’s not a make the beast with two backsing game, and you can’t round count in combat. It’s what’s called a weapons manipulation drill. C’mon, you have to know this by now for make the beast with two backss sake! |

Toilet paper shelves are starting to make a comeback, so Ammo should follow suit. I’ve been running 115gr here lately, and it’s too hot for the 48. So I broke out the M&P with the red dot on it. I run double stack guns slightly different. I use my non firing hand to drop mags and slide releases. Scrambles my little brain at bit, but all good.

Was wandering around Fleet Farm earlier today as I needed to pick up some stall mat for some decoupling in the theater (communicating doors with a air gap between the walls that needed to be covered but in a way that would not transmit vibration from the inner theater wall to the outer bar wall).
Decided to swing by the guns and ammo section and saw that they had 4 - 40rnd .223/5.56 PMags in stock so I snatched em up along with a dozen boxes of Federal Premium Sierra Matchking.
It was on sale and I am going to be doing some shooting over 250yds this coming weekend so I wanted something better than my normal plinking ammo.
But the shelves were still considerably bare of common ammo. I still need to make a drive over to Brownells and wander around. Haven't been in their new retail facility yet and they have been there some time now.
