Where do you have your Fat Duc 02 manipulator set

After about 200 miles on with the 02 manipulator I am blown away by how much better my 2006 S2R1000 runs.  Blown away.  I noticed the surging, but didn't even realize how choppy the bike was running on decel and very light throttle inputs (like slow sharp corners).

It is night and day different - but never leaving well enough alone i started messing with it.  At 13.5 (12:00 setting) i get significant surging, at about 2:00 (where Jason sets it) bike runs like butter.  Moved it to 1:00 and surging is creeping back in a bit.  This is totally non-scientific testing and the temperature here in New England is all over the place.  Obviously want to run as lean (and as close to factory) as possible.

Just curious if others are in the same range or are settings very different bike to bike, or for different mods etc.?

I would really be interested in getting some feedback as well. I know that there are at least a dozen people active on the forum that have them installed...

Still trying to figure it out. Set it to 12:00 -ran better than the leanest setting, still not as good as the richest. Some surging apparent. Gonna go alittle richer next time. BTW- got a quat-d mid pipe, otherwise stock. Slow process.

why do you want it to run as lean as possible???? That just dont make sense top me

He Man

running it as lean as possible = trying to make it run smooth without adding too much fuel. adding fuel doesnt make more power, you just end up wasting gas at a certain point.

Don't want to give up power by being too rich, woudl prefer to stay as close to stock as possible and don't want to foul 02 sensor plugs etc.  I was always taught in cars and skiing that smooth is fast - as the bike smooths out on the rich end i feel like i am giving up some of the gut wrenching acceleration that i am getting addicted to on this bike.

That said - i have been slowly working back to about 2:00 (/).  When it is cooler runs sweet - as it warms up here in the North (if it ever stops raining) i may richen up a little more.  I spend a lot of time riding at 40mph in traffic where the surges seems to hit the hardest (need a 14t).

JP - i installed mine with zip ties on the frame so i can literally adjutt with a small screwdriver while sitting on the bike. I am enjoying playing with it and am pretty close to dialed into where i want to be.

varies from 10 o'clock to 3 o'clock depending on the weather. I try to set it low enough that the check engine light doesn't come on but high enough that it runs smooth at 250 degrees. I am in AZ.

do you actually get CE light when you go too rich?  First i have read of that.

Some people get a CE light with the FatDuc, some don't.

I put mine on on Tuesday and am running with the default (1 o'clock?). So much better, but I think I can tighten it up a little more.

I'm still trying to figure mine out.. Had it att about 2 o'clock (came that way) and I thought it was great. Started to get som of the hickups back and went richer (3 o'clock maybe).. didn't work out very well either (too rich? - I dunno). Now I'm att about 1 o'clock and it runs ok untill it gets warm  :-\   Don't have a clue what I'm doing.. thinking about richening the mixture some (2 o'clock again maybe) but I will make adjustments in small steps from now on. Added the Arrow slip-ons recently - should that make any difference?

you will get more surging as it gets warmer out.  My bike runs sweet stock at under 50, but was surging more as temps increased.  I had same experience at 1:00 and richened it up a bit - nothing but smiles now.

i still have stock pipes, but from what i have read exhaust often creates a leaner situation (those with more experience please feel free to to ridicule and correct me on this).

End of day, i am settling in around 2:00 - 2:30 and very happy with how it is riding.

Yes I do. It comes on shortly after I start it and goes away at the exact moment that my temperature display changes from "LO" to an actual number.

Nope, you got it right. The more open the system the leaner it will run. Based on your feedback, I am going to try mine a little bit richer and see if that helps out the little bit of not-good-stuffs that are left from after the install.

Tigermeat

Running open udder at 3:00.  Installed a Zard exhaust and went to 2:00 and then 1:00 and maybe more?  The FatDuck should be a thumbwheel in that odd little blank space below the kill switch so we can all drive around like Helio Castroneves changing the A/F ratio like the F1 guys.

The instructions say you gotta adjust it w/ the engine off--right?
OK- I give - what's at 12:00? the littke silver dot? or is that 5:00? Help- I'm confused!
