DP part Yes
Rare? Yes.
Wanted?  IMO, no.
Cost new?  I don't remember, but it wasn't cheap.

i have this on my m750, but the clear is bubbling and flaking away in spots.  the plan is to take it off one of these rainy days and get it refinished.

wow must be more rare then i imagined.  another nice touch is that when i throw my kickstand up the led's go from 0-10,000 and down again.  im pretty sure that's one of the many details that sold me on the bike.  Evil

That's... odd.

I know on the 2001 models the tach signal came in through the wire that used to be used for the kickstand warning light. Maybe you've got a short and/or crossed signal.

Then again, if you like the effect, why worry about it  Smiley

They were not all that rare - they used to be for sale at several vendors, but I was told that the LED's had a habit of going out on them and that they were pretty inaccurate, and that I was better off with the other DP part, the analog tach for our generation of monsters.

I got a RoadRacing tach from Spareshack back in the day, paid about $250. I think that the DP tach cost about the same.

both of those looks sharp, but i have mixed feeling about the white and black faces on the speedo and tach. but hey, it is what it is, and it looks better with a tach for sure.  the digi led's are difficult to see with a glance on a sunny day as well, but at night it's Evil  i really like my digi tach, but i like the symmetry of the dual round gauges and the arrangement of the idiot lights more.  the square setup has caused me some clearance issue and just looks like more of an after thought.  the effect of the led's going from 0-10,000 is a start-up sequence.  i'd be very impressed if it was a coincidence of a short or a cross signal  Wink

side note: spike are those side blinkers in your seat cowl waytogo or just a reflection?

True, they were not rare, but they are now.  Working specimens are even more rare.

Just a reflection. I have an LED taillight with integrated signals so I could get rid of the indicators.
