Hi guys,

I'm the proud owner of a new (new to me) '02 620 Dark i.e. and had a question regarding the paint.

I can't tell if it's a simple flat black or a dark grey, but I wanted to repaint the front fender and try to have it match the rest of the bike as much as possible.

Was going to use simple touch-up paint from the auto parts store with a matte clearcoat.

Does anyone have suggestions on the proper color?

TIA.

Bones.

Color Rite.  I don't have the exact paint code handy.  Edit:  Some research turned up the following--

PPG: 291.500
Color Rite: 7575
Not spot on. but a cheap-o option is PlastiKote(rattle can): GM 7179

I'd confirm with Ducpainter.  He's gotta have it memorized by now.   ;D

After taking a 'Dark' panel to a painter a couple years ago to have it matched up, you wouldn't believe the complexity of the stock color!

If the Color-Rite doesn't work out, I still have the codes somewhere.

if your gonna use spray paint

a) keep it the hell away from gas and oil, just 1 drop will ruin the whole thing as it runs down and the edges gets soft.
b) your gonna end up rubbing some of the paint onto your jacket, so if you are wearing anything other then black, id watch out.
c) good luck! Dark is not an easy color to match succesfully. if doable at all.

if you would, post a follow-up with your results.  I'm lookin' to get some dark tank and dark frame paints (they are completely different 'colors' of black) and am interested to see how close of a match-up the plastikote paint is :)

I had my tank painted using Dp's formula and the color is off a bit. It is very hard to get it right.

Ya i was looking for the same colour too as i need to paint the tank and others due to a low side, where can you get the raised Ducati sticker that is on the tank?  Can the dealer get this.. i can only imagine what they want for it.
