It be helpful to know what gear other members are wearing.   Here's a format to use:

Helmet:  Shoe X-11
Gloves:  Spidi Carbon
Jacket/Suit:  Dainese / Ducati all leather
Pants:  Dainese / Ducati all leather
Boots:  Daytona
Back protector:  I don't but I should
Underneath: No
Wear earplugs?:  No
Accessories (backpacks, sunglasses, foggy respro, etc.):    I generally ride with a bright red backpack so cars can see me.

This is a great forum.  I was just getting ready to post some pictures from a day on Orthopaedic Surgery Trauma call at San Francisco General Hospital.   Several motorcyclists were brought in to our ED.  Most of the injuries were due to lack of the appropriate riding gear.  None of the riders were wearing boots!   Cowboy boots are for horses.  Combat boots are for Iraq.  Motorcycle boots are for motorcycles.  It's just that simple!  Leather protects your body.  Shorts and tank top do not do a very good job when you are impacting with pavement.
