Ok so I am a music Major and I plan on teaching music for the bulk of my career. I have been feeling very un-inspired lately, untill today. Today at my job (an afterschool program at an elementary school) I put Variations on a Theme from Haydn on by Brahms. By the end of the piece I remember why I am who I am and why I do what I do it felt GREAT!!! I now feel like music is my life again!!! I wanted to know if anybody else has a song or a peice of music that does this for them! Let me know!

I still love Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue

Grieg's Peer Gynt ....Anitra's Dance....Morning (though overplayed) still captures a morning sun burning through the clouds on the horizon as it rises...the sound offers such great visuals

Mozart I can get lost in

I guess there are too many pieces that can still reset my clock in a nice way...some are pretty pedestrian others more esoteric

and bless you for your field of choice

Air on a G String-Bach
When I need to just calm. I turn the Bose system up until I can hear anything else
and then lay on the carpet in the middle of the floor and feel the music.
Half the time a tear comes as I listen to it.

i don't know about inspire so much as motivate

i usually look at mechanical things for inspiration

however, thrash gets me going and reminds me why i like doing the things i do.
pantera, metallica, slayer. those are my big 3.

i can get the same feeling from classical as well, just not as often and i have to be in the mood for it. bach is good and i really like chopin.
