Hello again,

Name is Clay and I have a 02 620 with a few mods... the one that stands out the most is the yellow with white stripes (fender, tank and seat fairing).  Have seen some of you at a few local meets... looking forward to many more.

Hey what's up?

Looking forward to hopefully making it out to a meet sometime!  I have an '05 S2R Dark, very plain and simple, just the way I like it.

I guess I should post an introduction since we are starting fresh.  It's like starting with a clean plate, a chance to forget about all those bad vibes I may have cause in the past!!   ;D

I'm Dietrich, and have been riding motorcycles since before I could walk.

Been busy modding my GT1000, and racked up over 22,500 miles in less than 2 years.  I've met some really cool people from this world of riding Ducatis.   I also make a couple small parts for the Sport Classics and have sold quite a few all around the world.

Hope to see you all out on the road or at some of the other local Duc outings...

On another note, met a guy (Ray) at Home Depot today and he should e making his way over here soon...

I'm Brad DeVries, a recent transplant from the Washington, DC area to Prescott. It's really more of a return to the West for me after growing up in Oregon; those 25 years in Manhattan & DC were kind of an aberration.

I came out here with two cats, three kayaks, five bicycles & a 2001 M600 Dark.

I've seen just a handful of Ducs around Prescott, but the best so far was meeting Alan Sean when he was in my office & I noticed the jacket & moto boots -- followed very shortly by ogling his stunning tricolore Cagiva Gran Canyon parked out front.

Looking forward to meeting more of you!!!

Hey guys!

I'm Paul, I live in Marana (NW Tucson) and ride an '05 Monster S2R which is currently for sale.   :'(  You old timers know why it's for sale and also that I'll be moving to Peoria next week.

Once my S2R is sold, I'll still hang around because I'll get another when things get better for me.

Safe riding to all of you!   [beer]

Hello everyone... My name is Jean-Andree' Roberts, I know a few of you and have seen some of you out and about or on group rides... I ride a Pearl White Triumph Daytona 675 that always seems to go through some type of changes, some current pics of the last set of mods, if interested, can be seen at this link http://www.triumph675.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19160 (http://www.triumph675.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19160)...

I am an avid enthusiast of motorcycles as well as custom cars and pretty much almost anything with 2 wheels I like, regardless of brand, model, make... Even some cruisers...

I am a "gear nazi" but don't force wearing gear down people's throats...

I commute on my bike, but stay away from rain, because of the aftermarket electronics I have installed on it...

Some of you have met my wife, Alexis, she has been on some group rides and has been to a few different local events... She has a All black `07 GSX-R 600 with all decals removed, she chose it due to the seat height and ergonomics, it has Pazzo levers, Vortex rearsets & M4 exhaust... Now with more experience under her belt, her dream bike is a Triumph Speed Triple (not the Street, but the Speed)...

My wife has been ill for awhile so we haven't been around much... We rode up to the Pavillions Memorial day weekend, but then she took a turn for the worse again, so she's off 2 wheels yet again... That weekend was the first time she rode in 5 months...

I hope to see you guys & gals out and about when things are hopefully back to normal...

See you guys later... [beer]

Oh, and where's Dave?

Sorry I'm late, teach!

It has been 2 days since my last post.

I'm David Cline - Central Phx.  Started riding because I was enthralled with Ducati.  Been riding about 3 years.  First bike was an '01 M750 Metallic.  Don't have it anymore which is OK, I'm really okay with it - really, I am - I'm ok, it's fine.  Currently ride a black '06 749s and an Anniversary Edition '08 XL1200L.  If you don't know what that is -- good, don't look it up.

Thanks Maureen for the PM that let me know where everyone had moved to!
I am Doug George (DG).  I have been involved with local Duc Clubs from day one but recently have been seen very little. Sorry!
I ride a 95 M900 or my 98 FE.  Yes, the 73 Guzzi is still unfinished!  Been on 2 wheels since 1971 and have the battle damage
to prove it!  Looking forward to another good ride like we had on the "Devils Run".  It goes down as one of our best!

Gee, not sure why I didn't see this thread before when I introduced myself.

Anyway, here goes again...

I'm Norris.  Just came to Phoenix from NE Texas ('bout halfway between Dallas and the LA state border) about three weeks ago to attend the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute.  My bikes are an 05 FXDX Superglide Sport and an 07 S4RS.  Living in the North part of town near the campus.  Really excited about finally and formally doing the motorcycle training thingie.

Really love the West; lived in California for many years.  Will be here for at least another 14 months and looking forward to meeting some of you local Ducatisti!

Best,
Norris

Well I have been going on DMF for a while now getting info and checking out pics of all the other Monsters out there but never got around to actually joining now that I have I just wanted to make a more personal introduction to you all after doing the intro for the whole DMF.

I live in the East Valley and have been riding for about a year now after taking the rider safety course at T.E.A.M. Arizona in Gilbert which I highly recommend to anyone who wants to start riding.

I was very lucky to find a 2001 Monster 750 with a custom paint job that was in my price range as my first bike and I absolutely love it!!!
All of the best performance mods were already done on it when I got it so I could just jump on it and go.
It has a custom paint job that is very well done. I have been told that it was a custom job done in Italy but if anyone has any other info on it please let me know.

It used to be that my dad was the only one in the family that had a bike (Triumph Sprint ST) but over the last year I got my Monster, I bought my wife a naked SV 650 (which we recently sold because God decided we needed another kid), and my MOM and my brother both have Ninjas. Now I know my dad and I have the best taste of the group but how many guys can say that their mom rides a Ninja. I think it's awesome!!!

Here are some pics.

Here's  a little of the history

The first owner was a guy named Aaron, here he is with it an some Hooter's girls out CycleFest at Firebird in 2003

He traded it in at Phoenix International Motorsports (now Ducati/Triumph Superstore) edit: oopsie, sorry - got that part wrong, see DucducDaves reply where it was bought by the aforementioned DucDucDave (who is now simply a DucDave)   was sighted touring it around Mexico one day in November 2006  8)

who then traded/sold? it to buy himself a  .....  well we'll let him fill in the rest of that story .....  ;D

Hello,

I am new to riding motorcycles on the street and so far I am having a blast.  I rode dirt bikes several years back, but no street experience. I am a retired race car driver and amateur fabricator and welder so those are my odd skills....Bought my Monster 696 back in June of 08 and love it! I have wanted a Monster for a couple of years, but had to convince the wife that I would not kill myself....(this took years by the way)

As of right now,  I have 1800 mi. on my bike and I have had no problems with the bike.  I put the DP touring seat on my bike and I did the DP tail chop. I will tell you, if you have a 696; the DP touring seat is worth every penny! I am going to be coring the stock 696 exhaust cans this week so hopefully I can bring something to the table and help some folks on here.

Regards,
Ryan

Welcome, AZMonsterMan and Ryan!

First, a slight correction to SheMonster's account of things:  Aaron didn't trade her in at Phx International; Shawn at PI put Aaron in contact with me, because I kept coming in asking when they would be getting more Monsters... He knew they would not be getting any more anytime soon and also knew that Aaron wanted to sell his.  No big deal.

Anyway, it's a great bike!  Enjoy!  I do still have several stock parts I took off, if you want them, including the front fender which is painted to match the tank, etc.  I also have a couple of different front farings (windscreen can be nice on long trips).  They're yours for the picking up -- just PM me.  And if you ever decide to sell 'er, AZMM, please call me first!

There are plenty of riders in Tucson and Mount Lemon is great ride in the area. Maybe us Phoenix riders could head down for a ride during that time.

Let me know when you're in town (Tucson) and I'll organize a local ride. I've got good contacts with the Tucson Ducati club.

Just a presonal note - are you are aware that in June it's going to be HOT in Arizona - 100-120 degree days ???

Well, thanks for TEXTILE!!  I've ridden in 27 deg. ambient weather, can't hurt to ride in 100+; besides, I like extreme! lol...
Looking like I might be there through September, I can't wait!!!

I also have an FJ Cruiser that's off-road ready (some mods); any Cruiser friends here?

It is great out here - I have to admit it - despite the 120 degree summers. I moved here from Ohio to get away from the crappy weather and I never realized how great it really was here in AZ until I bought my motorcycle.

Lesson to remember: when you have a black motorcycle and it's sat outside in the summer heat - it gets HOT!!!  [cheeky]

I underestimated that my first summer day!! LOL

Hey, here's some info for you on the Tucson riders group:

On Any Moto is a new shop opened and opperated by the President of DesmoSouthwest. It's a great shop. Here's the link to their website that has info on rides and events:

http://onanymoto.com/ (http://onanymoto.com/)

You won't find a nicer group of guys to hang out with or to location to get service done on your bike. As the weather gets nicer and nicer you'll see more group rides posted up on thier site. If you haven't made it to a DesmoSouthwest group meeting, you should plan on it; they usually have about 30-50 riders show up.

 [thumbsup]

Howdy!  I'm also a former mid-Atlantian (DC, VA, and then MD from 1987 to 2007). We're up in Prescott, in the central-northern part of the state, so give a holler if you're up around here.

Much of that time back in DC Metro I spent keeping a 1973 FJ40 going, and my partner is enthusiastic about keeping our eyes open for a nice FJ60 (she's definitely a keeper), so I'd have fun talkin' Cruisers too.

Cheers,
BRAD

Hi Everyone,

I'm Michael. I live in Chandler, and love meeting up for group rides.

I think Ducati is the greatest motorcycle and I'll punch anyone in the face who says otherwise.

I'm just kidding about the "punch in the face" part.

This is my son. He's 3 years old.

He can hold still for one picture.

And then he remembers that he has things to do.

I can hold still for a few pictures ...

... and then I give in.

New Duc rider here, just picked up an 07 S4Rs  [moto]

I've been riding Japanese street bikes for awhile, but took a long (10 yr) hiatus from motos due to kids and family!

It feels great to be back on two wheels and I'm loving the monster so far.

I live way out in Buckeye (Verrado), so I'm not sure how many meetups I can make, but I'm looking forward to meeting you guys!

I am an Air Force guy by trade, and I've been in PHX for about 5 years now.

Many of you know me.  For those of you who don't, I'm sure we'll run into each other sooner or later since I ride the p*ss out of my bike!!  Nearing 70K in fact!!  I imagine if I had stayed in the valley this whole time..I would have caught up to and surpassed Howie on mileage by now!!  ;)

Most of you have been subjected to the "IZ-izms" over the years. [cheeky]  You've been with me through the ups (buying a brand new 620 back in '03 and riding it in every corner of the U.S.) and the downs (nails, bees, breakdowns, etc.).  Some of you can even say you've had the privledge to experience my excellent navigation skillz and off-road excursions!  [laugh]   I can proudly say that nobody here has had more problems with their bike or has a bike dirtier than mine!  Well, except for MrIncredible..but he doesn't count.

It'll be nice to see and ride with you all again.    [beer]

BTW..Big thanks to Tom Hull for keeping this thing running!!   [thumbsup]

hmmm,   Perhaps I have introduced myself on a different thread as I noticed I haven't posted in this thread at all.

Well,  finally,  Hello all.  My name is A.J. ,  pleased to meet you.  ;D

I live in Mesa.     Formerly from the Chicago suburbs.  GO BEARS!!

The only bike I have now is a 2009 Monster 696 and is the first Ducati I owned, but the 3rd motorcycle I have owned.

If we ever get the chance to meet in person you'll notice I'm usually a quiet guy who doesn't say much, so don't feel offended or take it personally  if I seem 'unsocial' at times.

Beware:  [beer]  [drink]  [wine]  may make me talk TOO much     LOL!

I've always wondered about everyone's location.

I'm in Mesa -- between Gilbert and Lindsay, just north of Southern.

Hey A!

I lived in Tucson for a few years.  My dad still does so I make trips there occassionally.  One will be soon actually!  If you want a good ride..go up the Catalina highway to Mt. Lemon or Summerhaven.

There's a handful Ducs riders down there too.  The Duc store (Renaissaince) is on Speedway.  Good store and the owner is a nice guy.

Tucson is a cool little place.  You'll enjoy it.

Hi there!

I moved to Phx-land a little over a year ago from Chicago and have just recently  been able to get out and have moto-fun here.

I've been riding for many years and presently have a  1989 Honda CB-1.

I'm looking forward to going on rides, making more motorcycle friends,  and seeing more of lovely Az.

Announcer: Let's have a great big Welcome Aboard for Jim from Mesa!!??!?!

<loud applause>

Jim: Thank you...hello! Thanks. <waits for applause to die down> Thanks, you're too kind. Well I'm Jim and I'm new here, new to Ducati with a two-month-old Monster 1100, but not new to motorbike riding. I've been in Phoenix most of my life. I was a motocross racing kid in the days of Bob Hannah.

My street riding career began when I was 15. My father started sending me out illegally to run errands on his 1978 CB900. He was a cop so he figured he could sort out whatever trouble I got in for being on a bike with only an automotive learner's permit. I think I heard him argue to my mother, "Riding a motorcycle is about the only thing that boy can do right, I figured I'd put that skill to some use".

By 18, I was a hooligan running round town on Vespa scooters, making trouble with a gang of about 20 other vintage scooter guys. At 22 I bought my first sport bike, the 1986 Ninja 600, followed immediately by a brand new 1988 Ninja 600, and it's gone on and on from there. Before I got the Monster, the pinnacle had been a 2003 Honda RC51. That was the bike which locked me into a love of performance v-twins.

Which brings me to today, when I got a message from Dietrich on another forum inviting me to come over here and see where all the cool kids hang out. Odd....I always thought all the cool kids were hanging out wherever I was....??

hi, my name's Elliott, or e if you prefer.  I'm just now getting around to introducing myself.  I've been riding since i was 16, and had a few different bikes, but this one is the one I'm most proud of.
i ride a '92 900ss which has been heavily ...ahem, modified. it's probably in the roughest shape of any bike on the forum, but it's mine and it runs. mostly. I've had it since '00, and it's been my only form of transport for most of that time.

New to Ducatis, but have been riding (street and dirt) for almost 40 years.....still race motocross. Just bought a 2007, monster "S" and waiting for delivery (feb 28th). I live in Mesa between the Alma School and Country Club, near the 60. I work in health care and go to school. Can ride weekdays as well as weekends. Was over at the other board for a while and not much response from AZ riders. Hope to meet some from here and ride.

Waiting sucks

Okay.  So I'm the new guy here, and new to Arizona.  Not sure how much longer I'll have a Duc in the stable, but I'll still introduce myself. I hope to meet some people, and hook up for some rides to get to know the PHX area.  I like bikes, and enjoy the friendships they've allowed me to have.

I currently ride (if you can call 50/mi a month riding) - a 2004 M1000, with some farkles.  My other bike is a BMW K12S.

Cheers.

Oh yes. I moved from Seattle about a month ago, and I did bring all the rain with me.  Send me your address, and I'll send you a water bill. Looks like you guys desperately needed some rain.  ;D

There's something wrong with the headlight, so they need some sort of replacement part to fix it and it could come from Italy if there's none in the US. Which that means can take a very long time. Sucks!!! :'(

As near as I can tell, the only thing Tombstone has going for it is the hidden bottle of tequila with no label behind all the liquor on the top shelf.

And the only slightly winding road in miles.

We do have some decent wineries in the area, and the some of the ones up in the Prescott/Sedona area grow their grapes down here.

89a is awesome. I love oak creek canyon, when there's no one else on the road.(never happens) its tough riding here for me between working ( line cook at enchantment resort)and having no one else to ride with! My husband just jumped on my monster though. He loves it. Unfortunately..... I need another bike. I am not a cupcake. :D so putting the word out for monsters for sale in AZ!!!!

Just getting settled in the tucson area.  My wife and I purchased a house in Vail and are now waiting for our house hold goods to arrive.  We moved here from Germany and plan to reside here for a long time.  Hopefully the bikes arrive without damage... if so new parts would be on the to do list.  That being said when they do arrive I need some new tires on mine.... any recommendations in the area for mount/balance?  Maybe even purchase?

Evan Steel Performance has the best rep in Tucson.  I think he charges for that rep, though.

I do my own for several reasons.

There's a DOC based in Tucson... Desmosouthwest.  They do weekly meetups and rides and stuff.  Renaissance maintains a rep as a decent dealer (I haven't been there in years, but they are Italian-only).

I'm out in the sticks, and there are a couple of other folks on the board... none too active in the AZ section.
