Title: Street Fighter Flogged at Buttonwillow (see page 3 for ride details)
Post by: Fox on May 11, 2009, 02:57:07 PM
This weekend, I ride  [evil]

It looks better in person than in the photos, but there are many different angles and lots of different colors on the bike. It needs to be cleaned up a bit.

More pics please. And update us after the ride.

And wipe that stupid grin off you face.  [cheeky]
That's just me being jealous.

I'll get more pictures this weekend. All I had was the camera phone this afternoon.

One thing I did notice is the nut crushing power of the bike. It's significanly worse than the 696. Don't italians have balls? I don't get it.

That'll give you time to remove the fork reflectors!   ;D

I'm sure they will be gone by then. It just rolled off the van at the point the photo was taken. Big plans are had for the bike.

Detailed report needed.   [moto]

B and I are thinking of replacing our STs with a couple of these in couple years if Ducati fails to release a new ST.

Half way decent review in June's Roadracing World.

I don't know the story with the exhaust, but I do know a guy who can take care of it.

When you ditch the reflectors, send the mirrors packing also.  That bike is screamin for a pair of CRG's. Congrats on the bike.  I can't wait to read what you think about it.  Very, very nice.

Uber cool ride, can't wait for a full ride report. Keep em coming too as you are one of the first I've seen on here to get one.

Everyone bags on the exhaust. Except for the fact that it will flow like crap it's one of the few factory exhausts I thought looked cool. Of course the other was the gold over-under shot gun style on the Z1000. Especially with the tangerine paint. That bike was high on my list til Kawaski changed the exhaust then it got ugly to me.

Congrats, looking forward to the review.

It is with deep regret that I disclose that the bike is not mine. I can't even disclose where I saw the bike should the powers that be get upset. I will only be able to have my way with it once or twice.

if the power is crushing your nuts, you're likely riding it wrong. please orient yourself 180° and try again.

Well, if you can only ride her once, I say damn the forum majority and their views on full gear protection.  Ride her naked to maximize the bodily contact.  Nuts to the tank and cheeks to the seat, I say.  Then, when the moment is finally over, stand beside her on the showroom floor and proclaim to anyone that dares to stop and look that you, my friend, had her first.  (for full effect, you should probably still be naked, perched like Capt. Morgan)

The latest cycleworld has a full write up on it.  I have to say, their pictures do it much more justice than the PR ones Ducati did.   I really liked the looks of it with a rider on it.

Interesting thought, but there is 650 miles already on her. I may be getting sloppy seconds (she is shy about such things) and I don't know how comfortable I feel about riding her naked in that case. I'll give it a thought, cause sometimes its worth it I suppose.

Ducati North America Streetfighter academy for dealers this weekend, Texas Motorsports ranch.:)

The other really nice thing that happened this week ducati announced both S and base models will be a the launch on the 22-23, so that means I'll be getting my base pearl white sooner than I thought. :)

Its a pregnant dogin bike.. put a few miles on her today...

Really a lot like the Tribute Bikes we build... A bit slower, but SOOOO narrow... Your knee's almost touch when riding it. Suspension is a bit out of tune, But Ill sort that out this weekend. Throttle response is pretty perfect...

REALLY need to get rid of that damn exhuast tho.. KILLS my knee to be turned out like that.. I need a few weeks to get caught up on some other work, but you never know what comes out of our lil shop...

WIll, I don't understand what that means????? :) Is it good or bad?

I've had a 910 brute, same deal with the pipes you do get used to it after a bit. MC mag said their's a 3/4" gap between heat shield and pipe. so that could certainly be adjusted, put a bit of insulation on the heat shield.

Ummm...Pretty sure stopintime is in Norway so it's probably not a US bike.

I have no idea what the differences are, except the empty space where the canister is on a US bike.
Norway is about half a globe to your right, we are strange and we seem to love taxes. StreetFighterS out the door price $41,000  [roll]

Sorry about the thread jacking :)

Didnt really get to shoot much today.. Lots of video and interview type stuff tomorrow for the project.... Bike will be at the Rock tore tomorrow about 915 if anyone wants to see it...

Fox rode it... seemed to like it ;)

The pregnant dog reference was to me saying how B!thc!n the bike was... Im pretty pumped about this project... The suspension and ride height need some tweaking, but just like any bike these days, the stock rear link limits just how good you can get it, but I thin Ill fix that lil issue too!

We got to see the SF up close and personal tonight at a local bike/car show. Sat on it, started it up, and was very impressed with it. There are the few basic mods that need done, but otherwise it's on our list of must ride bikes when the Duc truck starts making its rounds.

 [thumbsup]

These are great things to hear. I pre-ordered a pearl white base model just after the debut show in europe. So pretty soon my bike should get here.

Had a good time this Saturday with a run up to the Rock Store with some time in the saddle of the street fighter. Seems like a great bike with a couple of minor tweeks to make the bike a touch more comfortable. The Ohlins suspension felt great, the brakes were great and it was pretty fast. I didn't get on it hard enough for the traction control to kick in, but I've heard it's amazing. As Will mentioned the bike is more narrow than a monster but I was able to adjust quickly. I also noticed a little heat from the engine, but I guess that's expected. All and all it seems to be like a great bike. The only question is what to do with the exhaust.

Ok y'all... Had the Street Fighter at Buttonwillow today during a Let Ride track day to have a couple of Celebs and VIP's ride it... That stuff is eyes only, but my impression is as follows - from my notes

9:00 - This thing RIPS - Motor a bit slow to rev, mappping a bit soft
10:00 - Turn in better with +8mm RRH. Front spring maxed out, need to re-do forks, really gets off the corner hard, brakes have awesome bite and great feel. almost too powerfull unless going at full chat.
11:00 - Rode HyperMotard - can you say Wheelie?
12:00 - Front tire slides WAY to soon, on fork bottoming stops mid corner. need to up spring rate and stiffen mid stack, maybe raise oil height. Once front end folded up and started sliding, TC came on and bike came right back.. pretty pregnant dogin! Needs more steering lock, hit stops twice going into turn 3 hacked out.
1:00 rode 1098R - feel like human pretzle
2:00 Pretty agro session. full lock slides exiting 2 with TC turned OFF. Motor has BIG balz and pulls for DAYS!
3:00 My poor nutz.. need to fix the seat/tank junction.. owie....
4:00 Last session... really need to fix exhaust... this thing is a swcalded dog... Way fast motor is great... few tweaks to perfection.. higher bars for SURE....

So there you have it

Will
