Hey Narflar.   Good idea.   I rode by Cafe 821 yesterday to finally meet Brix821 (Andrew?) who used to post but he wasn't in.   I was going to tell him about the new site.   Also, I don't think Bdfinally has found his way here yet.

Ya, I guess a PM to them would be a good idea.  I was going to post in the DML thread but didn't want to risk it getting deleted.  Brix works the evening shift so I haven't had a chance to meet him yet either.  I'm always over that way during the day  :-\

I rode by again last night and left the new site info. with one of the waitresses for him.

Post by: Narflar on May 14, 2008, 05:22:03 PM
I haven't seen any.  I'll shoot sonny an email to let him know.  Some of the guys were members of monkeyriders.  Do you have access to that forum to let them know?

--edit--

Looks like sonny's site is down or something.  I'm just getting a blank page for wtvr reason.  I hope his email still works.

No problem Brix.  My much younger brother goes to VCU and frequents your establishment or rather has it delivered.  I'll have to stop by sometime and try it out.

804Monster - Congratulations on finding the new board.  This place is getting back to normal fairly quickly.

Hey guys...another Richmond Ducati rider here.  Actually, I started that original "Richmond" thread on the old DML (name: tab), then dropped off the radar for a while (too much work). It's nice to see there are other Duc fans in town. Anyone up for a group rider sometime?

I look forward to meeting all of you guys. Brix...what are your hours at 821? I'm in the restaurant industry as well and work mainly evenings so catching up at 821 could be a little tricky. Let me know and I'll try to stop by and say hi. I'm off this Thursday and plan to hit the Monkey Riders bike night over at Lonestar with a friend...never met any of those guys so not sure what to expect. I'll swing by 821 before heading over there if you work that evening. Anyone other Duc riders from the list plan to attend?

I've been afew times. It can be cool if you get there early enough. It tends to become a squid fest after that.

I used to be the sous chef at Amici in Carytown, but recently took another kitchen position over at CCV.

Post by: san zanobi on June 06, 2008, 08:47:07 AM
I'm heading out Sunday morning for a ride with a friend. Our loop is usually River Road Rt. 6, which takes us to a coffee shop in Goochland. We then head back via Rt. 522 to Huguenot Trail to Robious, then Huguenot Rd.

We leave around 9-9:30 from the near west end area and return about noon time.

We don't ride at break neck speeds...more medium tempo.

Post if you're in and we'll figure out a specific place to meet.

-Tim

No, we had a new guy named scott move in upstairs.  He works at velocity and is a great guy.  He is supposed to be getting pipes for his bike this week, I think it is a great looking thruxton.  Did you sell your monster yet?

Hi guys. Been here since May 8th just went with a new avatar, retired the old one with the old DML. So what do you think of the new forum? I kinda hung on doing both, but they finally banned me on TOB for having an opinion...and then voicing it a bit too much for their liking. Anyway, a group ride sounds great. Hey Andrew, does your staff tell you I give 'em a blast of those Sil Motors almost every morning going to work? ;D

804, I live around the corner from you over in Ginter Park. The Northside is a great area. Enjoy the new house! I don't know if you've tried Zed Cafe out yet, but they have some tasty grub...

Drew,

Great to meet you the other evening...sorry to walk in in the middle of service. Anyway, let's catch up for a ride soon. Sandy (the other guy you met) and I are planning a ride up to DC for a National's game sometime in early July. Hopefully you and some of the other guys on this thread might be interested in rounding out the group.

Zed's in a little strip mall on Hermitage across from Roy's (that burger stand).

We're on the fringe of Ginter Park and Ginter Park Terrace and had owner the house for a while as an investment. When the housing crunch came and we could unload it we just decided to move into it and rent out our smallerl house on the southside. A bit of a juggling act I guess. My wife and I love it over here though.

Nice to meet you as well and thanks for the comments on my pipes.  I actually started wearing earplugs last night for the first time and I can really tell a difference with fatigue.    I feel like I need to apologize however, I had no idea it was that late until I got home and saw that it was almost midnight.   No wonder you guys were already locked up down there.

Brix - It's a sweet bike isn't it?  Pictures definitely don't do it justice.  I've been good thanks.  I bought a house and it's been keeping me busy these days.  My bike is in the shop getting a brake upgrade to the 4-piston Brembos right now.  I can't wait to see what difference they make.  I think it should be a noticeable improvement.  Hope you're doing well.

RVA Duc - Congratulations on the 900.

Burnticarus - I usually go out Rt. 5 and explore the side roads.  Lately, I've been heading up Rt. 33 (Staples Mill) and have found some interesting roads out that way (ie. Ashcake Rd. which connects Rt. 33 and Rt. 1 is cool).

Wow, you are perceptive. I've been up an down Hull street, but have only seen 2 other Ducs, a yellow 748 on Lucks Ln and a red (I believe) 1098 on Broad Street. But then again, most of my Hull Street riding has been toward Amelia.

There are a few clubs that meet up.  None are ducati specific.  I haven't been to any due to timing, they usually meet up during the week and that's always bad for me.

Where were you two last Sunday for Poe's?  ;) You could have had lunch with some crazy Triumph and BMW pals of mine with fairly high I.Q.'s. My son knows a place at Ogden's Landing with killer Bloody Mary's too! Only one when riding...  8)

Since I'm already out past the 'burbs, usually Richmond holds little appeal, especially on the 796. As you know, I'm in Goochland CH and retired. I prefer to ride during the week when the roads are empty and the passing zones clear. If the precip. probability is 10% or less, I like to ride out to Nellysford/Wintergreen and have lunch here. Food is good, ale is passable. http://www.dbbrewingcompany.com/default.aspx (http://www.dbbrewingcompany.com/default.aspx) 93 octane pure gas available nearby too.

So if you want to get me out during the week..., consider this route which is about my limit. Roads are mostly decent, some areas with serious twisties. http://binged.it/LhgbUW (http://binged.it/LhgbUW)

Give me 24 hours notice if any interest. BTW, I may be old but I move at a "moderate" pace.  8)

Trust the wife will behave for a while now..., or was this toy really for you?  ;D

I read a review of the Roadster recently, and they panned it...said you do better by light years in getting the regular CooperS...my Fiancee fell head over heels in love with the Countryman at the DC auto show in January of last year...so wehn Mini finally opened an access point dealer within a reasonable range from us last fall, we went and looked and now she has a Surf Blue Countryman S....I just wish it was a Manual trans personally, but there were much more well thought out and rational long term reasons for her as to why the flappy paddle auto was to be...

Ya, the roadster wasn't a smart choice by any means.  I drove it and fell in love with it though.  I've been wanting a two seat roadster for a long time and being tall has limited the options greatly.  Hell, the mini has so much legroom that I have to pull the seat up to reach the peddles.  I got the Auto also because of the wife but I will admit, it's a pretty good auto.

Yesterday would have been a good day for it. My Triumph mechanic had an opening and I've been waiting for him to do a couple of things, so I rode over to Hanover and took the backroads on the return via Montpelier. Not all the best roads until you get out here but a really nice day for a ride. Thought about Nellysford today but figured that everyone else would have the same idea and the brewery would be packed, so just took my fave loop to lunch in Powhatan and back.

This coming week looks rainy until the weekend on all three forecasts. Keep your eyes peeled for a break in the weather on both ends of that route. It can often be sunny down here and pouring on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Just let me know when you decide to play hooky. At least with that route, if you get tired, you can stay on Route 60 into Midlothian.

Saw a bunch of Monsters yesterday in Richmond.
A light blue monster parked along Carey street.
A gray-purple metallic sort of monster driving along Courthouse road.
A black monster parked on N main st.
A black monster driving somewhere around Monument.

I often see a custom painted monster parked by Davis and Carey st, but it wasn't there yesterday.

Saturdays tend to be thick traffic-wise but if you want a good lunch and some twisties farther out west, try http://binged.it/Mh4BcX (http://binged.it/Mh4BcX) You can come back on Rt. 6 if you don't want to just reverse course. This is near the brewery.  ;) http://binged.it/Mh5oux (http://binged.it/Mh5oux)

I haven't ridden the bit on Rt 56 between Buckingham and Lovingston since last summer, so can't comment on road conditions. On Rt. 29 there's an Excel station which is selling 93 non-ethanol BTW. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=10761+Thomas+Nelson+Hwy,+Lovingston,+VA (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=10761+Thomas+Nelson+Hwy,+Lovingston,+VA) See the picture so you know what to look for.

Where and when do you think you will be getting lunch. I was planning on riding out to Farmville, and then taking 60 back in. Maybe i can catch you on the way back.

For some reason I'm not getting e-mail notification from this thread. As it's 11:30, this probably won't reach you. However, I'll probably drop into Erin's ~ 2 PM and always park the bikes, Triumph in this case, out front under the tree. Have a good ride!

Sounds like some good eats. According to Google maps, i could take Genito all the way out to the fringe of Farmville. Are you up for a road trip next weekend assuming the weather is ok?

Had you ridden through town, you'd have spotted the bike.  ;) http://erinsvillageeatery.com/index.htm (http://erinsvillageeatery.com/index.htm)

BTW, Farmville is not exactly my idea of a destination.  8) Took a long loop back which has some really good roads, not much traffic, and only one state trooper.  ;) You could have returned on Rt. 711 which is a lot nicer than Rt. 60. http://binged.it/MlEMZp (http://binged.it/MlEMZp) From Powhatan, Red Lane is also pretty good and drops you onto 711 as well.

Admittedly the weather is pretty changeable, but this early out, Poe's looks good for next Sunday. If the weather IS decent, my son will join me and afterwards we'll grab lunch up the road at Osborne Landing which has an OK basic menu but an absolutely KILLER Bloody Mary! ;) So, see what the weather gods do..., and be there..., BOTH of you!  ;)

Send me a pvt msg on Friday.  I work outa town so my weekends are my only time to get stuff done around the house.  I'll just have to play it by ear.

Spoke to my son yesterday as he was driving back from the Bonhams Auction at the Greenwich Concours which he covers for SCM. http://www.sportscarmarket.com/ (http://www.sportscarmarket.com/) Seems he has to attend this, so can't make it to Poe's. http://theeleganceathershey.com/ (http://theeleganceathershey.com/) I'll probably show up later then, ~ 10 AM.

Watch the weather though... One forecast has already switched to 20% thundershowers.  :( If it's more than 10% before Sunday evening, I'm not riding all the way down there. Fingers and toes crossed! The usual Triumph guys will likely show anyway and some may tag along to Osbornes Landing when the crowd breaks up at Poe's. I crave one of those spicy hot Bloody Mary's!  8) Would be nice to see a few more Ducatis. Turnout has been weak lately.

Moi??? 8) I'm a mellow old fart these days! Know how to ride a bike on the A4 in London traffic though.  ;)

Wish I'd taken another Bloody Mary "to go" though. Those are GOOD over there at Osborne Landing... Still thinking about the Vincent we saw at Poe's. Found this past auction. http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/17288/lot/263/ (http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/17288/lot/263/) Took a few digisnaps which I may upload later. I was wearing my mesh jacket, and as long as we were doing 80... **ahem, cough cough... I mean as long as we were doing the speed limit, it was cool enough.   [Dolph]

Just kidding and giving you a hard time. I'm trying to plan my next sick day, to check out the place that Curmudgeon was talking about near Charlottesville. Are you able to play hookie one day from work? Mike_D also expressed interest in "taking leave" one day, although he will be traveling from the Williamsburg area.

Sure. Friday is a long way off though with these unsettled conditions. Just watch all three forecasts closely. Right now it's good on both this end and the mountains. The brewery is here BTW. http://binged.it/N0PqoE (http://binged.it/N0PqoE) Just up the road is 93 pure gas too, of if they're out, the Excel on Rt. 29 had it ten days ago too.

BTW, was cool enough in full mesh pants, jacket and gloves today speaking for myself. It was warm..., but the REAL heat is yet to come. July and August in VA... Would be nice to get a few more breaks this summer.

Is the rider from Williamsburg an ironbutt? I'm good for ~ 200+ miles with breaks now and then. Got to take a hydration break occasionally...

At this point Friday still looks reasonable. Are you game? Would propose this route but you can return to Midlothian via 711 rather than return to Goochland. http://binged.it/LOU8AB (http://binged.it/LOU8AB) The first leg to the brewery is ~ 1:20 for lunch. Leave Goochland ~ 11 AM?

Let me know. I have a Triumph buddy who might tag along if he's free.

No pressure. I like going out there occasionally anyway. Might go this Friday if my Triumph buddy plays hooky. We'll see.

Son's KLR broke down here this PM. Nothing simple. Might be a coil or CDI box. Had to run him back to Bon Air as he's on a plane to Florida at 8 AM to inspect some collector cars until Sunday. Right now you can't turn around in my garage.  ;) A KLR specialist he knows will pick it up with his trailer tomorrow. Son has been all over that bike since he bought it from a magazine editor last month. So, you see..., SH*T HAPPENS!  ;)

Took bike out for a few hours for lunch inbetween chores.  It really is a perfect day to be out.  On the way back someone on a black Streetfighter passed by me while I sat at a light.  He was going down courthouse and turned onto Newbys Bridge Rd.  The guy knows my route :P.  I would have followed but I had shit to do.

not sure, after I spoke to you about the noise I didn't hear it on the way home.  You were probably right about it not being the chain but the last time I hear a sound like that was from the chain driven cams of a Honda...  Only got one chain now so that's where I started.  Still a mystery, hopefully it doesn't come back.

Since you said that it disappeared when you disengaged the clutch, that more or less eliminated the final drive in my feeble mind. More likely the clutch breaking in, since your miles are still low. Mine howled intermittently until ~ 1,200 miles. Different clutch than your EVO, but close enough maybe.

Bikes-in-the-Bottom at Poe's Pub, 10 AM tomorrow. Bloody Mary's there or at Osborne Landing afterwards. Most of the lads rode up to Morton's for the open house and free food today. I passed.

Given the weather, turnout should be good tomorrow, so lots of interesting bikes on view for any not familiar. http://binged.it/130B8IO (http://binged.it/130B8IO)

I can't, gotta do mom stuff.  Fully prepped to go until the wife reminded me what day it was.

On a side note...  I headed out to redline for some warranty work and took the long way home via the ferry and 460.  I was looking to have dinner at the VA diner.  Diner was closed, no power, and I forgot how boring 460 was.  Got a ticket from trying to make it interesting  :-\.  200+ mile ride so I'm blaming my sore ass for making me go faster.

Great day today though, currently at Lamplighter enjoying a coffee.  I think the impending storm scared off most the bikes that are usually here in the morn.

Sorry about the ticket. My son and I came back that way from the Port of Norfolk a couple of months ago. There is some well-known BBQ place on that route though I believe. Yes, booooring...

Not familiar with that coffee shop as I live in Goochland and avoid Downtown except for the monthly Poe's gathering. Houston is having his vintage, classic (mainly Jap) bike show next weekend though. Everything shows up there for a look-see. That's on 711 not far from 288 if you're interested. My son will probably be judging, so I'll go if the weather's OK. You can't miss the place as the mailbox is a motorcycle. 8) Will get details tomorrow.

Touch wood, I've had no  [leo] difficulties riding west of here over to the BRP as long as I tip-toe through towns on Rt. 6. Maybe you should ride west more often, get a Sargent saddle..., or both. ;)

That was your excluse last Hallmark card day too. Can't you bring her along in your lunch box?! ;) You could tempt her with Eggs Benedict and Bloody Marys...

Here in town I can hear Harleys in the distance..., but they are about to get wet! (It was sunny briefly earlier...)

I made reservations for bunch not realizing it was the 2nd sunday.  Oh well....  There are always next month.  I'm just glad I finally got out for a good ride.  And yes, I need to ride more and much more out west.  I'm gonna send my seat in to a guy in FL who changes up the foam.  He did my ST1300 and it changed the bike.  Much cheaper than a whole new seat too.

I'll try to check out the show next weekend.  Sounds like a good time.

The Sargent is also flatter. Maybe have your guy take a look at that too. Not flat mind you, but flatt-er. Still not perfect but my candy ass can cover more miles on it with fewer breaks.

Not sure just who will turn out for Houston's show, but you might find someone to ride with. My pace may no longer be up to yours. I'll post details here when I get them. Last year I believe it was on a Saturday.

heh, I'm slow.  Plus I don't need anymore tickets.  I had a Sargent before and it was better but not good enough to make me wanna go back.  I'm gonna send mine off before I decide to throw down the cash for a whole new seat.

Checked with Houston today as he was passing out flyers. It's next Sunday from 10 to 3 PM with judging starting at noon. No reason to show before 11 AM IMO and last year it was winding down after ~ 2:30. Lots of riders I know came and went. All kinds of bikes. Not as crowded as a big day at Poe's, but lots of shade. It's on 711. I came home that way today.

It's on this piece of property. http://goo.gl/maps/8B1DC (http://goo.gl/maps/8B1DC) You really can't miss it as the mail box is a motorcycle! ;) I guess we'll hear you coming now... ;D

rain is looking pretty crappy and the radar has it still coming right over where the show is.  I'll keep an eye on the radar.  If it clears up around 11 or so I may head out.

Agreed. The weather stinks. I'll post here if there's a rain date. Next weekend looks possible at this point. The weather has been a yo-yo for the past two months.

There's enough room on the property for quite a few bikes. The show bikes go in the front yard and parking is outside the fence. Wouldn't hurt to bring a pad for your side stand though. Last year the show was in the autumn and the weather was perfect. Can't win 'em all.

Saw the sun yesterday and did my lunch loop when the local forecast put the rain off until the late PM. On Thursday it REALLY let loose here at 4 PM and I sure didn't need a storm like THAT!

A couple of roads on this loop are entertaining if you don't know them. I was on 711 myself yesterday. Only saw one State  [leo]. http://binged.it/14BtvsT (http://binged.it/14BtvsT) Had lunch ~ 2 PM at the http://www.thecountyseat.com/ (http://www.thecountyseat.com/) on the porch which is relaxing. When the weather breaks and you get an itch, send me a PM and I'll give you my mobil # and we can meet for lunch. If that's too boring, keep heading west to Cartersville on that road and turn south to Rt. 60 there. Makes a nice ride unless the school busses are out. ;D

No idea what happened to Eugene. Hope he didn't move! Last weekend the weather was fine for B-in-the-B. Saw this which made me itch for my old RS version of the same bike!

It's on this piece of property. http://goo.gl/maps/8B1DC (http://goo.gl/maps/8B1DC) You really can't miss it as the mail box is a motorcycle! ;) I guess we'll hear you coming now... ;D
The rain date for this event is now next Sunday, 6/2/13, same times as before. I'll probably roll in ~ 11 AM. Pass the word!

Reminder! Bikes-in-the-Bottom at Poe's is next Sunday, 6/8. Current forecast is a go..., but in this air mass... ??? If it's clear, I'll be there for my Bloody Mary! ;)

Narflar made it to the vintage bike show yesterday. The rain held off until afterwards thankfully. Hit here hard about 4 PM. Crap, I completely forgot about Bikes in the Bottom yesterday.  I did take the bike out on some of my fav roads WEST of richmond.  A zig zag route between Genato and Hull St.  Lots of twisty and next to no traffic.

You need a calendar on the fridge or pantry door with each 2nd Sunday marked.  8) No rain dates unfortunately.

Since neither of my pals showed, I could have followed you over there and we could have had lunch on the porch in Powhatan. http://www.fourseasonspowhatan.com/ (http://www.fourseasonspowhatan.com/) and  http://www.fourseasonspowhatan.com/s/cc_images/cache_4017798904.jpg (http://www.fourseasonspowhatan.com/s/cc_images/cache_4017798904.jpg) They are open on Sundays and never crowded.

My son knows those roads you mentioned but was in Germany this weekend. He always goes to B-in-the-B and takes his LT when it's cold. I usually take the T-100 over there because those forks are valved for Richmond potholes...  :)

No idea what happened to Eugene and Christian. Certainly no weather issues yesterday!

On a Saturday AM, if you're bored and can get up early, ride over here too. THEY have rain dates!  [roll] http://carsandcoffeerichmond.com/Calendar.aspx (http://carsandcoffeerichmond.com/Calendar.aspx)

How did I never know about C&CR?  Oh well, I'll have to check it out one week.  This weekend the wife will have her wisdom teeth out so I'm Mr Nurse.

I've been meaning to stop at Four Seasons.  My usual stop in Powatan is the little cafe called Erin's Village Eatery https://plus.google.com/109096681029203889591/about?rfmt=s&hl=en&gl=us which is usually followed up by a slice of Buttermilk Pie at the County Seat.

Since I'm not getting any notifications from the DMF for the past two weeks, not sure anyone will see this..., BUT..., Bikes in the Bottom at Poe's Pub in Richmond is this Sunday 4/13 between ~ 8 AM and 10:30 AM. The weather looks great at ths point and the April informal gathering is usually the best-attended all year. If my right hip is OK, I'll be there for my Bloody Mary and no doubt my son will show up on the Paul Smart he bought or his K1100LT.

So..., if you're local and happen to read this..., don't miss it!  [thumbsup]

Another DMF renegade was there yesterday with his wife, he on a new EVO limited edition and his wife on an Aprilia. Hey guys,

M1100 Evo owner here, I currently live in RVA. Looking to catch up with other Monster riders in the area to ride. I know every sunday there is a group ride the meets at the Carillon at noon (Reddit RVAMotorcycles group). I met Curmudgeon a few weeks back at Poe's Pub, see you on Sunday at the vintage show.

Hopefully Narflar will show up as he dropped by briefly last year. He's riding a black EVO. I'll probably ride the 796 over because I rode the T-100 last year. It's nearer to the door.  8)

Narflar, Narflar!!!  ;)

Not to jinx us but the weather is looking ideal..., so no excuses!

If my Triumph Mechanic shows up, I'll introduce you. They made him Pres. of the BMW Club because it really isn't BMW, but almost everything else European too. He probably rides fast enough for you. I might on a good day.  :) That club also meets in Richmond which is a turnoff for me since I usually head west from here toward the mountains and empty, nice roads... http://www-rbmwr-com.rmctools.com/ (http://www-rbmwr-com.rmctools.com/) My son says some of these guys ride a bit slow...

We can talk about this on Sunday. And bear in mind that Bikes-in-the-Bottom is EVERY 2nd Sunday of the month at Poe's. Turnout is usually even better than last month when you dropped by. Depends on the wearher naturally.

Sounds good to me. I was a member of the Richmond Riders for awhile, great bunch of guys. I sold my GS and 748 and took a breather as wife and I went back to Japan for quite awhile. Now we're back, new Duc in the stable and looking at a Multistrada for a cross country tour.

Weather is going to be superb this weekend, can't wait to get out and refill my road rage tank from Virginia drivers not knowing what turn signals are or what the term "yield" actually means.

Funny...  [roll] If you mean that they always stop in the middle of the road, even to make a right turn..., yes indeed, I find that pretty curious. Consider it a challenge to figure out what they are going to do next..., before THEY do.  ;D

Heh. What's with these guys never "missing their turn", instead stopping in the middle lane waiting for traffic to pass on the left before making their obvious missed turn? Don't they teach them that they can do a u-turn up ahead and circle back here? Mindboggling.

I am greatly comforted by others observing how incredibly awful VA drivers are.  They somehow manage to be slow and dangerously reckless at the same time.  Although I have now live in (No)VA for 11+ years, I will never become a "VA driver".

Buy the Multistrada. The only danger is that you might find yourself riding the Monster a LOT less.

Not a bad description! I've got a few theories but the subject might merit a doctoral thesis.  :)

I'm 1/3 of the way to Charlottesville from Richmond and while there ARE still a few slow drivers out here, the pace of traffic picks up quite a bit. In fact, some of the pickups out here approach warp speed and even make good "rabbits" for the  [leo] when I'm out on one of the bikes. Go figure!

Hmmm, not really surprising that the problem seems to get worse the closer to DC you get. That being said, DC drivers are maybe a bit better than NoVA drivers. I'm from Michigan originally and grew up with the idea that it is a driver's responsibility to use the road "efficiently" aka stay out of other people's way.

Was it in asking for help in removing my charcoal/vapor canister? Because I need help with that! I got the actual Ducati euro bolts and washers, the 2 into 1 tube and even the euro shroud to replace the one on there holding the can. Kind of lost if I have to pull the tank off or something like that.

Title: Re: Richmond Thread
Post by: Narflar on May 30, 2014, 08:58:26 AM
Just someone with an Aniversary Evo looking for people to ride with.

That evap canister removal is easy.  I did it on mine soon after buying it.  Just remove the tank skins, not the tank.  You'll see the breather hose on the left side of the tank leading down to the canister.

Title: Re: Richmond Thread
Post by: Kirigakure on May 30, 2014, 09:03:42 AM
Yeah, I remember now. It was me!

So the screws go into the cylinders heads once I pull off the hoses (use washer and Loctite, right?) and then the t-hose connector connects to where? That's where I'm lost.

Title: Re: Richmond Thread
Post by: Narflar on May 30, 2014, 09:16:49 AM
You'll have 2 tubes coming from the tank.  One is the overflow, the other is a vent.   The vent goes to the canister, the overflow goes down the side to the bottom of the bike.  I T'd the vent to the overflow.

You'll then have one tube from each cylander going to the canister.  I pulled the tubes and put little vacume caps where they connect to the heads.  But you can leave the tubes and just plug them with a screw.

http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=2514.15 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=2514.15)
This is the set of instructions I used.   About half way down it shows the nipples going to the evap and mentions the T fitting for the fuel vent/overflow lines.

That's a decent point, but I think my point still stands if we're only talking "civilians".  At least the cab driver might be driving 17 mph because he is saving a few pennies on gas, trying to run up the meter or desperately looking for a fare. I may not like it, but at least there's a plausible explanation. When it's a new 7-series with a 40-something year old driver going 17 mph, I am completely befuddled.

Good deal! Hopefully you'll have no household emergencies again. ;D  Maybe even Eugene will make it and the weather will be kind. I'm fairly sure Scott will make it as long as he's got no conflicts. It did seem last year that people had ridden down from NoVA and up from Williamsburg/Newport News/Norfolk as well.

Huston has my son down for judging the concours again. He moved down to Augusta, GA in the fall but said he'd try to come up if he's not too busy or putting out fires. He knows I'll put him up and buy him a good meal. :) That's still 13 - 14 hours of driving as I did that run last month before The Masters when Augusta gridlocks for a week. TBD...

If you're anywhere near Richmond, Virginia this Friday, July 17, swing by McCormack's Big Whisky Grill from 7-9pm. Classified Moto will be taking over Mac's amazing West End bar and unveiling three of their latest builds.

Just wanted to chime in here.  I am newer Monster owner here in RVA.  Picked up a second hand 01 M750 earlier this year.  Do you guys still get together?

Thanks,
Jeff

You might want to see whether Scott is still working at Scoot Richmond, 1100 EVO and MTS rider. Scott may know what's going on "in town" this time of year. I don't make the PM gatherings due to wild life out here west of town in the boonies. On nice weather 2nd Sundays, I will ride into Poe's ~ 10 AM for Bikes-in-the-Bottom though. Haven't lately...

I'm still at Scoot, do I know you Jeff? Is this THE Jeff?! I know a Jeff who recently got an '01 750.   ;)

We ride every Sunday at noon, kickstands up at 12:15. Meetup location is the paddleboat lake near Byrd Park, across from the tennis courts (Fountain Lake). We meet in front of the boathouse. We have some amazing routes that we ride, come join us!

Just had a notice that the previously postponed Central Virginia Classic and Vintage Motorcycle Show will be held as before from 10 AM to 3 PM on August, 21st 2016 at Houston's place, 1885 VA Rte. 711 west of Rte. 288. Can't miss it as there's a motorcycle ridden by a stuffed animal or other on top of the mailbox.  ;D

Hoping for decent weather. At least there's shade under the trees and usually sodas and eats on sale. This is the 5th iteration of the show and turnout has been growing each year.

Headcount anyone?  :)

As usual I'll try to be there.  I'll be coming back from Myrtle Beach either that Sat or Sun so it depends on how tired I am.

Bump, FWIW, but looking like a wash-out, so watch the radar. Might just drive the car over if it isn't raining at 11:00 AM. Sometimes there are interesting bikes on display.

There's a group of folks from the RVAMotorcycles FB group that are meeting at 9:30am at the Sheetz across from Mission BBQ on Broad and then riding over.  Weather? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

NB. After last year with two conflicting shows to confuse matters, Houston Smith is doing it as before in the traditional way. May the weather cooperate on September 10th!   ;) Not on farcebook myself but the only online notice lives here: https://www.facebook.com/Central-Virginia-Classic-and-Vintage-Motorcycle-Show-456531407754152/ (https://www.facebook.com/Central-Virginia-Classic-and-Vintage-Motorcycle-Show-456531407754152/)

The FB page has this for its homepage: http://centralvavintageshow.homestead.com/index.html. <edit> Doesn't seem to be updated, however.

Houston relies on others to put anything online. If he owns a PC, it's probably Win 95.  ;D That date and time should be OK. Long range forecast is great..., but this is VA!  ;)

I have been trying to get to a Bikes and Breakfast event for a while, and I am finally going to do it Sunday morning. I might head down to this event after if I can muster up a good route.

Haven't been to Bikes-in-the-Bottom at Poe's Pub for over a year, so not sure who comes these days. Traffic has gotten crazy on my ride home. Crazies!

From Poe's, Main St. to Cary St. Rd. to Huguenot Rd. to Robious Rd. (Rte. 711) to the mailbox with the bike on top of it.  ;) No more scenic way I can think of. At least the weather looks nice. Missed Irma getting up here by two days.

What are you riding? Might drive the Defender so that I can bring a camp chair. Will shoot for noon and hang around for a couple of hours.

Here's a bill which has just been filed. Never seen this problem nearly as pronounced as it is in VA. Suggest you mail your local House delegate to support it if/when it gets to the floor. Mine is already onboard. http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?191+sum+HB2193 (http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?191+sum+HB2193)

Done!  No idea if this applies to surface roads (it says "highway"…) but the crews maintaining the linear park on Monument Ave in Richmond do a pretty good job of making it treacherous as hell.

You're good to go.  ;) From the VA code:

“Highway” means the entire width between the boundary lines of every way or place open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel in the Commonwealth, including the streets and alleys, and, for law-enforcement purposes, (i) the entire width between the boundary lines of all private roads or private streets that have been specifically designated “highways” by an ordinance adopted by the governing body of the county, city, or town in which such private roads or streets are located and (ii) the entire width between the boundary lines of every way or place used for purposes of vehicular travel on any property owned, leased, or controlled by the United States government and located in the Commonwealth. (emphasis added)

Agreed. Not a weekend road rolls by without having to wade through several stretches of grass clippings. It's never annoyed me enough to wish for a law, but I can't say I'm surprised there's proposed legislation. Thanks for pointing it out.

If you're in or around Richmond, there's a fairly new (on the 2nd year) weekly meetup event that is pretty decent:

RVA Bikes & Coffee
Every Sunday, starting at 10:00 am
Starbucks side lot 5001 Huguenot Rd, Richmond, VA 23226
(in between the Virginia Eye Institute and Starbucks)

Typically 50-60 bikes, nice mix with a bunch of Ducati. Waffle truck provides food and coffee/hot chocolate usually most Sundays, but Starbucks right there if that suits your fancy.

More info on the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/rvabikesandcoffee

I'm there mot every Sunday, on either my M1100 EVO or Multistrada. Say hi if you come out.
