That ones been up for sale for months locally. It appeared shortly after I bought mine in November. Initially it was for sale privately. Then it appeared at the local wreckers who also sell complete bikes. Now it at the Harley dealers! Who knows?  :-\

Brimo, there is a S*R seat on the parts for sale thread - get it shipped from the states - great conversion rate at the moment and won't cost too much.

WANTED - aftermarket exhaust cans for an S2R800.

I've installed a custom mid pipe to get rid of the ugly cat. I think its improved the sound...that is until I ride with some other Ducs with aftermarket cans...

and now I want some of that goodness god-darn it!

I've been watching ebay for several months but haven't seen anything suitable. I might have to buy new from the States given the current exchange rate.

So does anyone out there have anything of interest or know someone who knows someone? I think the S4R and S2R800 end cans are interchangable.

Please note I have a carbon fibre habit but will consider others as well.

I have a home made alloy fender eliminator/number plate holder for FREE! I made it outta chequer plate (just cause i had it laying around and i was bored) I just recieved a package full of bling from the states so its gooooone..... Looks good, you cant see it at all unless you look under the wheel arch. See the photos in matty's flikr from the 31st ride, its on the bike in those photos ( the only monster with standard exhausts is mine [cheeky] [cheeky] ).
I don't expect anyone to pay for it, just thought someone might want to get rid of the unsightly standard holder. Not sure if it fits other models but I am sure someone here could tell you.

L Brackets will fit on all monsters as the rear of the trellis is identical in all models.

Brackets are probably different on SxR bikes with highmount exhausts (they are for mine). Exhausts may get in the way.

Also when I changed my rear tray the brackets would no longer fit - may or may not be a problem for others.

Just spoke to the guy that has the warmers and he said they were podium, with a wave design.
He also said it fits 16,17,18 19 inch diameter tyres. If you want i can get you some pictures  for you tomorrow. This guy is our bike mechanic and also works with the guys that did Betty's pipes

Unfortunately I have some bad news Vince. It seems the tyre warmers were sortof on consignment and a bit of a fault was detected during testing of the rear warmer. He is going to send them back from whence they came, will PM you if I have any news.

looking for a good tail tidy kit to replace my ugly stock beer tray. Anyone have a kit supplier in oz that will fit the NSW plate well? I saw one on ebay but I don't really know about the quality, the photos where pretty terrible so I couldn't see much!
I want something that will suit the length of the termis I will *eventually* get.

     I got mine when we were all over OTB. It is a Cookie 1 kit. You can get them via Monster parts.
Jeff sells that one and a Competition Werks one for about $100 US.
Sydmonster also just did a nice chop on one of the other bikes Melvins bling sled.
If you ask nicely and offer gifts of Gold Frankensense and Merth (my WYD08 reference) he may be able to make you a custom job.
But I can't speak further than that for him.

and if you read my thread called A spider's journey it has the half tail chop - still requires 85mm of rail chop or you can go the no chop - Techno from Tassie has that one, both products available from Monsterparts. My latest order was here in 6 days - the only bits of carbon I bought from Australia took 45 days!

For sale, Billet clutch and brake reservior caps for S*r. 3 pieces, Bought them from flea bay, opened the packet, dont like the colour on my bike. I paid $51.00 plus postage. What wrong with the colore Tri is it the same as the ohlins or pazzo yellow  ???

Deeper/darker than the ohlins gold (thats what I was hoping to match ) not sure about the pazzo colour, It is very close to the colour in the picture on the fleabay site.

Anyone with s*r stock exhaust cans interested in swapping for my cored cans? They sound very good, not too loud but have a definate growl...

i'm thinking of selling the 750 engine in my 600 to then fit another engine made up of some of the bits i have laying around.  anyone interested as an upgrade for a 400 or 600?

'95 750 engine with the clutch slave cylinder in the clutch cover on the rh side of the engine. reco'd about 5,000km ago.  big valves, 900 cams , fbf hi comps, ignitech unit, 76 rwhp.  around $2,500 i guess.

I think it was meant to be rego.

But 9,999km when stated it is being used regularly was good too.

I think he means he has done alot of daily trips to the coffee shop which is just around the block, has a good chin wag with passers by over a coffee then rides round the corner back home.

There are 2 or 3 plans going at the moment, 2 entail me keeping the Monster one does not.

1. Is keeping the Monster and getting a Triumph Daytona 675 for the track.
2. Is a shared track bike
3. Sell the Monster and put the cash and more love toward an 848.

We'll see which one takes off over the next little while.

Wanted: DP or a Bagster Tank Bag for 2000+ Monster. I am going touring and I cannot seem to find anything that fits well from a tank bag perspective apart from the DP/Bagster one (but I am loathe to pay the stupidly expensive retail price). If anyone has one lying around that they either don't use/despise/wanna get rid of or whatever I'd be appreciative if you could ping me a PM.

I think Matty had one. It's probably gone by now.

I have one, and am not really a fan of it. Its the bagster one, with the DP logo stiched into it, with the tank bra and clip on bag.

Don't get me wrong, it works really well, but I find with my riding style and position that a tank bag restricts me in the fun stuff, so I'm now destined to carry less on the big trips and just work it with the tail pack that I have...

Not sure what it's worth, PM me and we'll discuss...

No. Its of the 00 model and the immobiliser didn't come in until 02. I know it will fit the 00 year and likely the 01 900ie

What will that Ohlins fit?
Could it go in an 05 M620

I had a look on the Ohlins website yesterday and it suggested up to '01 (Jukie is an '02  [roll]). Don't know if this is definitive though ... when did the Monsters move away from the 'hoop' back end? Not sure what the difference would be.

Betty's correct, its for every double sided swingarm with the hoop height linkage.
This changed to the single bar height adjuster in the 02 models.
It will fit the following:

    Ducati Monster 600(1994-2001)
    Ducati Monster 750(1994-2001)
    Ducati Monster 900(1994-2001)

The DU440 has a remote reservoir and preload adjuster.
With the newer swingarms there was enough room to have the resevoir with the shock and only the preload adjuster is remote.

The length of the shock is also different so Matty you need the DU046 shock

Sorry I can't help Melvin ... everything is expensive at the moment. If there is not a decent 'near new' wheel out there, aftermarket could still be a fair option.

Rob if the damage is not too bad you can get the wheel repaired.

There is a renowned repairer out Fairfield way that does all that kind of stuff. I have his card somewhere if you need his details.

After the repair powdercoating the wheel costs bugger all too. (if you want to go original.)

If you buy a second hand wheel from someone, who knows what happened to the bike it came off.

well, the rim is cracked so that takes care of the repair. other than that nothing at all is damaged

there is a Marchesini 5 spoke wheel @ a wreckers for $550 but its yellow  :o   .... i might go there on monday to have a look

Rob you will find they can repair a crack. I repaired a Buell front wheel a few years ago and it was cracked.

The wheel is only aluminium. A magnesium wheel weighs a 10th of our wheels so there is no issue welding.

If the wheel is dented from the impact the repair bloke out Fairfield way rolls the dent out then welds. The powder coat to bring the wheel back to original will only cost around $100. [thumbsup]

well, it is dented as well as cracked in this flat bit between the spokes. if you come across the name of the magician from Fairfield i will take a wheel to him and ask

I've been speaking  to the Oz importer of Marchesini wheels and he told me they don't come as 5 spoke after market, only ten spoke.  He reckons the 5 spoke would be OE only = $$$$.

I've just bought one on ebay for mine. If it doesn't fit my bike, it will be up for sale so watch this space.

Melvin they don't cost that much to paint. My rear one cost $156.  So don't let the colour limit you.

what i think i will do is first get the rim to this guru-guy and see if its repairable as it would be clearly the cheapest option. his shop is in the general direction of the wreckers so will stop there on the way. but i'm not all that keen to pay $550 for the wheel and than have to re-paint it as it would bring it to the total cost to around $700
for this money i'd rather buy a pair of brand new rims for $1500, sell my rear wheel to offset the total price and would end up with 2 brand new wheels ... only in white as this dutch guy is selling them as the S4R wheels
but still i'd rather avoid the solution where i'd have to part with +/- $700

This is the same dude I bought my carbon seat cowl off. The fit is ok and quality is average... it does the job, but if you're of the 'discerning' type, then you'll probably want to stay away.

I think there's one for sale on the old site - looks like good cond and basically complete (possibly except the valve which goes under the oil filter - definitely worth checking).  Probably worth checking with the seller to see if he will post to Aust.  They do make a good difference - I put one on my 620 and it's helped keep it around 5-10 degrees cooler from what I've experienced.

Yes. No.  Still got to do a bit of a touch up on it.  bit of gravel rash from previous owner but nothing dramatic. Then have to find bearings to suit.  Not getting any help from local shops but certain people in US helping with advice.  Ducati dealers arghhhhhh.

I'd also suggest the seller bought the thing at an exchange rate much closer to 1:1, so has probably done quite handsomely out of it.

With the apparent interest in this one item myabe we should petition for a group Ozmo discount.

it was bought off an aussie by the look of it so the exchange rate wouldn't come into it, although, if he/she paid that price for it when the ex/rate was nearly 1:1 they would have paid pretty close to new price inc. freight if not more!

im afraid so i knew it was coming but couldnt face it but the nerve damage in my hands is making too dangerous i cant feel my what my fingers  are doing i over cooked a corner last week and nearly ended up a hood ornament and i dont ride slow but ive had 40 years in the saddle with only two major falls so ill quite while im ahead and then a rider got killed at symons plains today in the australian super bikes so when you put what his family is going through tonight i dont want to put mine through , thanks all very much to every body on the forum i have felt like being in extended family and my only regret is i didnt know about this place earlier , with the greatest of respect to all ride safe and keep smiling cheers bazz :'(

I was sitting in a cafe in Surry Hills this morning (Single Origin) when a guy got into the sliver Audi parked in front of me, and I said to Lil "If he backs into my bike I'm gonna jump up and down on his bonnet" - and he then proceeded to back into my bike. Fortunately he barely touched it and stopped - not hard enough bump to knock it off the sui-side stand - so I just growled menacingly at him while he apologised profusely... A few more inches and I could been looking for replacement RHS bits too...

Well I dropped over a mates place after a quick ride. I was leaving around 6pm and as I was leaving I rolled down his driveway onto the road. Because I had to go up a hill I gave the bike a twist on the throttle [moto] but nothing to drastic. Next thing I know the back wheel starts spinning and then steps out to the right. The wheel bit in and I was flung to the right and the bike fell on its right side too. It happened so quick! :o I was lucky to have been traveling less than 5 ks an hour. The only thing I can put it down to is dew on the road. I've ridden up this hill many times before without incident. What do you do? Just got to bear it and shell out the coin. One thing I was most grateful of is the pipes did not get damaged! I would have  [puke] if they got damaged. Anyway bike is sitting at Fraser's awaiting for approval for the repairs.

The tank, well, the short version is it had some rust in the bottom of the tank around the hinge. When I went to treat the rust, it turned out to be more widespread and basically the whole area around the hinge perforated to the piont of looking like swiss cheese. Lots of ringing around, and searching this and other forums revealed this is a very common problem with the injected supersport model ducs like mine.  I looked into lots of repair options, from welding a new arse in the tank to full replacement with new or even a carbon fibre unit from the US. In the end I settled on a second hand tank from a crashed very late mnodel supersport, which was an easy repair, had it treated with a lining process and repainted to match my bike. A bloke in Dapto did the work - took his time, but highly recommended for quality of work. Part of the fun of owning Italian, I suppose  :-\

I ordered some clear blinker lenses and a clear taillight for my Monster 620 from Clear Alternatives a few months ago (to which they advised me they were out of stock so I cancelled the order). In the meantime I sourced them from somewhere else but Clear Alternatives has cocked up and sent me my order 6 months later (and subsequntly charged my credit card) so I now have 4 clear lens blinkers and a clear taillight (can't remember if its an LED one or not) brand new and unopened.
Anyway I'm asking cost price, if theres no interest over the weekend i'm going to have to deal with the PITA of shipping it back to the US and getting a refund.

I have available a set of black front Brembo four spot calipers and master cyl off a Multi - includes caliper pads, bolts, fittings, stainless lines (only thing missing is half the clamp to bolt the master cyl to the bar).  Came off a dropped low K's Multi so the ball on the end of the brake handle has a 'ground down' section.  Calipers themselves great cond - just some minor cosmetic scratches.

They would be a great upgrade for anyone with the 2 piston calipers - ie later 620's, 695, S2R800 etc (I think the S2R1000's used these calipers)

if you look at the current 'feature monster' on the home page it's an S2R with the same black calipers but the brembo painted red - looks good.  I was going to do the same thing but like so many people recently I'll be upgrading from the 620 soon so there's no point doing the brake change.

I have a 93 Monster that gets carby icing in Winter. This was fixed in the 95 models and onwards. There used to be carb. heating kits for them does anyone know if these are available in Australia?

What you will need Nathan is two fuel bowls and the hose kit which you should be able to get from a wreckers somewhere like Metropolitan. The kit has a tap which can feed the hot oil through your carbs instead of going to the oil cooler.

In luei of a carburetor heating kit for a '93 Monster I am after a set of carbies from a Monster 1995 to 1999. I believe there compatible with the '93 Monster. The Keihin flatsides are a bit pricey and apparently are problematic.

There are a number of Yamaha models that ran these carbs, early TDM's, FZ750 and FZR 1000's. Might give you some more options in the hunt.

Hey, I'm Sydney based and just wondering if any members have some stock right side (S2R 800) parts they want to sell off, namely:

I'm doing a 4 spot caliper conversion on my 05 620 and just need the brake lines and master - anyone got some they want to sell? (looking at the existing 2 pot caliper lines it appears the banjo angles are quite different so they probably won't work for the 4 spot's - can anyone confirm this?)

Hey Paul,

I upgraded the brakes on my '05 S2R earlier this year and for the calipers I used (4 pads) I had to get new lines with the appropriate fittings. Can't remember what it was called but there was some funky joint used where the front line branches in to two ... I requested that to make sure there wasn't any twisting at the critical points.

I did keep my master cylinder as standard ... but that was because I didn't trust myself with a bigger bore master. My tastes are a bit 'different' though.

So no I don't have any to sell but you are likely to need new lines (custom lines aren't that expensive) and you may need to change the master (it comes down to personal preference) ... but it would be better to do it all at once.

Thanks for the info - I might do the same, keep the current 15mm master and see how it feels (supposed to be a longer pull but better feel/modulation).  There seem to be a few different aftermarket brake line kits available on the OS ebay sites so I'll check them out if I can't find good used lines here.

check with your  anodizer most the parts on monster has too much magnesium too anodize i tried and they just go slate grey too black and rubs of its called smutting , when you anodize only the aluminium will anodize the other metals will try too dissove causing smutting thats why they use 600 series alu so it will anodize just trying too save you money , try powder coating its a tuff as cheers bazz

good..two hours on the first ride with it would have shown something if there were any problems......seat is a bit firmer when you first sit on it .....but after a couple of hours still comfortable......the seat is heavier and feels more solid....because its firmer it feels easier to slide your bum across.when changing sides.........as opposed to the standard seat it feels like two distinct positions one on the tank...then if you push back a bit the seat kicks up about 10mm the a bit more of a touring posn........ so far so good.....in fact might go and try it again now.......

Johnopaul your problem might be that there are not many 696 owners on the forum.
Most here have Classic Monsters, the newer breed seem to be new owners to Ducati and I don't
think they seem to look for places like the DMF.

I'm considering selling my 05 620 which is currently LAMS registered here in VIC.  It's red, has relatively low k's, rego till July, near new Pilot Road 2 tyres and does have a few mods - S4R forks, Magura S4R bars, S4R triple/risers, Termis, upgraded 4 spot brembos/320mm rotors/Ferodo Platinum pads, new sprockets (14t front), DID gold chain, oberon bar end mirrors, fender eliminator, rizoma grips, K+N air filter.  I'd be after around $12K for it - let me know if they're interested.

Hi, if the 620 is not lams registed where your friend is (which would be sad as it sounds awesome) then on the trading post at least last i looked there was quite a few of grey imports monster 400, i have seen one in the flesh and it looked good, a mini monster  [laugh].  Good luck to your friend do not know about the other states but Tas licence method sucks - 6 months on Ls then 1 year of P1 then a year of P2 and anyone that is on the P1 or 2 get told different stories as to what this means.(also they put an 80k limit on the Ls' and P1s)  So glad that I did Q ride a few years ago, but have been told things have changed in QLD too. 

There are some benefits to being old and getting you licence on a dinosaur then?  [roll]  [laugh] I would hate all those restrictions as I struggle staying under general everyday speed limits now!

Yeah, you guessed it. Not too hard to see I suppose. Despite my previous statements about keeping it forever, I think it is time to move on. The reality is my supersport is not getting any more comfortable to ride and I am not getting any younger. The result is I am riding it less and less each year. Its a bit of a vicious circle. I know one answer is a cup of concrete and harden the make the beast with two backs up, but there are other alternatives...So, I am looking to sell it and get something I can use more. Don't know exactly what yet, but it won't be jap that's for sure. The new Multi looks interesting, but the price tag is more than bit out of my 'staying married' territory  [roll]

The euro sizes are a bit hard to translate. The conversion would be ladies size 14, but like a lot of Dainese products they are on the smaller size. Size 12 would be more accurate. I am a size 8-10 ladies and there is plenty of room. The main problem for me is the length as I am a bit on the dwarfish side. They are awesome pants, quality as per normal from Dainese. I am so disappointed that they don't fit me. You are most welcome to try them on.

Thanks Betty, excellent suggestion. I have had a leather guy look at these and he didn't want to pull it appart at the knee and reassemble because the width in the pant would change and it would be costly. The other problem is that the Dainese zips don't work with the Shift zips (The leather jacket I have). Things that you find out after the fact. I need to get something custom made so that it zips together for track days. I will probably get a perforated custom made job from DB Leather or TigerAngel. The latter would involve a flight to VIC, but I can catch up with friends there at the same time.

I may have to wait a little while though as my gorgeous boy bought me a new four wheel toy yesterday. I don't want to be greedy.

put them on, and using a trigger bottle, spray the tight section with water flexing your hands on and off till they dry, the leather palm will stretch to suit. mine were exactly the same, they now fit "like a glove" funnily enough.

Fair call, I guess, but I don't care who in the internet-connected world knows that I wear a size 41 business shirt and 38 jeans...  No biggie, but I've seen other ads for riding gear where there's been a point of reference to other more "standard" clothes sizes such as business shirts, etc and it made the sizing easier to gauge / more relevant...

Now, if you tell me to get off the computer to go down to the nearest bike shop to try the current spec jacket on for size, then I really have no argument there...  [thumbsup]

This is the original part from my Bike, it was attached to the seat which was sitting on a bench while doing some work one day and the wife wandered along and
bumped it and it hit the floor, it has some scratches on it which mostly been polished out, I replaced it with a new one, I had intended to get this one Airbrushed
but just never got around to it.

1 x Clutch Cover/Engine case, The paint has started to bubble, the parts were replaced under warranty, The dealer was going out of business (Meaning I was losing
my job) So he let me keep it. The part is fine underneath the paint, just the paint has Bubbled.

I'd say no, your S2R has pill bottle reservoirs and the M800 has coffin types.

I'd say yes. The S2R 800 (and I believe the M800) have 'coffin' style reservoir/master cylinders with the big bolt hole/fixing.
